News Round Up 2016

Muppet Rumor update!

I have an update on the rumor for muppets in MK. The new muppets attraction being seriously consodered for MK would go on the second floor of Hall of Presidents. This would be something for Sam Eagle fans.

Wow, what a fantastic time to be a Muppet fan! However, I agree with some earlier posters that I would prefer to see the new Muppet Courtyard built out with other attractions (but I will take what I can get).

What I find interesting about all of these Muppet-related Parks news/rumors is that ABC has yet to renew "The Muppets" for a second season. Maybe Disney is looking to move the force of this IP into the Parks (which was Jim Henson's original hope) after some lackluster movie/TV receptions. On the other side, I could see a season two renewal coming solely to try and build wider brand awareness as they are making Muppets investments in the Parks (which I wouldn't mind -- overall I enjoyed season one).

DLP is doing a new preshow before Disney Dreams

That's kind of random, but still cool to see. Really beautiful projections. They could do some of that stuff at AK.

And about the Comcast/Disney deal, that's really interesting. I've been wondering if Disney would be willing to push their own online streaming service similar to Netflix at some point in the future. Disney's Netflix catalogue has always seemed kind of limited to me, but who knows.

somehow i think the muppet rumor came out on april 1st because i can't see anything going into the second floor of that building. I don't even know if there is a second floor on that buidling. as far as a second season for muppets, there is always netflix or other streaming services that could do it if abc doesn't want it. there is an audience out there for them just not on the networks.

The show's ratings have dropped quite a bit, I know before it came out and it was announced that miss piggy and kermit had split (for the show) I already knew I wasn't going to watch it. For me that was a kick in my childhood, and I know a lot of people in my social group who felt the same. I think they were trying to make them edgier and more modern, that's not what the Muppets are about in my opinion.

There are sources saying there is something to this rumor and it didn't come out on April 1st.

They've used Muppets in MK before. I definitely recall seeing them in a parade some years ago though I don't recall the details.

The characters have been fitted into so many stories (Christmas Carol, Treasure Island) that its not hard to blend them in really. The bigger question in my mind is why?

Because they want to incorporate them fully into the Disney menagerie - as they have done Winnie the Pooh and gang.

Whether the muppet rumor is true or not, the notion that they "have no place there" is a bit off. The muppets have long been used as an education tool. If adding a muppet host or something to the HoP gets younger kids in there, then I'd be all for it.

I can see people being upset that it is 100% the exact same ride it has always been. And even if it isn't directly related to the HoP, just having a few muppets in colonial garb in the area could help spice the area up. I think it's a bit silly to hold that part of MK up to realistic scrutiny when you have silly characters in every other corner of MK doing M&G's.
