News Round Up 2016

I don´t know if I´m supposed to ask here, but since third track is schedule for the summer, any chance there´ll be closedowns and delayed openings in early May? We´re visiting DHS on May 13th and I love TSMM, would hate to miss it!!
Who knows. Its possible but it would be announced before hand if it happens.

FYI

Disney Magic Kingdoms is now available for download for IOS on the app store. It has not been publicly released but i followed a link on twitter to download early.

Does not appear searchable. Possible to share the URL?
Always appreciate you.

Oh, my!! These are incredibly cool pictures!!! WOW!

Hey Jackie! With all of the changes going on at the WDW parks, DL, cruiseline, etc., the DIS Unplugged should have a section of the show every so often dedicated to refurbs, new rides, expansions, new restaurants, etc. There is so much that is happening and will be happening in the next several years leading up to the ultimate celebration that will be the 50th anniversary of WDW in 2021, not to mention any other changes happening in Disneyland. When you think about all that has been happening and is scheduled to:

  1. Disney Springs additions - too numerous to count in 2016
  2. RoL, Sunset Kilimanjaro safaris, new shops and restaurants at DAK in 2016
  3. Frozen expansion and new ride in Norway, as well as the updated and expanded Soarin' and new character meet-n-greets in Epcot in 2016
  4. New Star Wars stage show, expanded Toy Story Midway Mania track, next generation nighttime spectacular for DHS in 2016
  5. Pandora the Land of Avatar in 2017
  6. New DVC in Wilderness Lodge 2017 (I think)
  7. Toy Story Land in late 2018/early 2019
  8. Star Wars Land in late 2019/early 2020
As stated above, there is also Star Wars Land coming to DL 2018/2019, as well as 2 new cruise ships for DCL. Most likely leading up to the 50th anniversary we may even see more additions beyond what I have listed. I have already heard rumblings about a 3rd land for DHS, as well as a new fireworks show for MK. I just think that there is so much happening that a dedicated block of the show geared towards this type of news/rumors/expansions would be a great add. And of course, you could always use @rteetz's News Roundup thread as a source as there is so much great stuff that he posts here.

Just a thought.

It's a good idea but I think as dates are officially announced or as things in Disney Springs and other places open they do have them on the show like in the rapid fire. They don't seem to mess with rumored dates too much.

I would rather that they have a segment of the show dedicated to this type of subject. They used to do that before but seem to have veered away from a focused approach. It also wouldn't need to be every week or even every month. I am obviously biased as this is Disney topic that I love to talk about.

Oh I agree I just think because they do them on an individual basis when announcements are made they wouldn't do something like this.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out. I'm already going to miss out on Soarin' and the new Frozen attraction at Epcot, I'd hate to miss my favorite DHS attraction too

Thanks for the heads up - just downloaded it and it is pretty cool - long tutorial. Definitely a "pay for more stuff" game

Here's a quick article about Disney (ILMxLab) experimenting with VR:
http://fortune.com/2016/03/15/htc-vive-star-wars-vr-experience-premieres-at-gdc/

They demoed a bunch of stuff at GDC (Game Developers Conference) this year including the Star Wars attractions (quick demo we saw before) developed using the Unreal Engine. I'm very curious to see how they incorporate VR into the attraction, as that is a hot topic right now for amusement parks in general.

Edit:
Another article from Polygon:

Bei Yang:
"Storytelling is best told through immersion," Yang said. "We can't build a Radiator Springs all of the time, so sometimes we have to turn to digital imagery. Now technology has gotten much better. In the last few years, we can have better imagery, we can have better robots, and we see these as tools to help us tell better stories.

"And of course with better imagery we are now starting to see VR experiences."

Yang said all of these things are seen as new tools in Disney Imagineering's tool chest.
