News Round Up 2016

I don't disagree I just think Wishes will still stay most popular and then Star Wars at number two. Of course I also would like to see something new with wishes but first timers will probably not like that and people who love the show. You can never make everyone happy though. I'm sure there are people who don't like Star Wars fireworks either.

First timers just want fireworks behind the castle. Every time they get some new ones at MK, they are always better and everyone always says "best fireworks MK has ever had" ........ and they let it go. Sorry, had to say it.

I have to think that Wishes is in its final years. By the 50th if not sooner it must be replaced surely?
that is what has been said but the way it pulls in people is how Disney justifys to not get a new show. The same goes for illuminations, that show still wins awards which is why that one hasn't been replaced either. I really do hope that we get something new along the lines of Disneyland forever for the 50th.

I actually wonder if Rivers of Light is going to be nearly as popular as the other night time attractions. I think we all very much want to see it and are excited, its new and that alone is special. But trying to think of the mind of a first timer again, hard as that is ... I think, if there were Wishes fireworks (or whatever they are called at MK by then) Illuminations fireworks at EPCOT, Star Wars Fire works and laser/light show, or Rivers of light .... other than to folks who don't like fireworks, I don't really see Rivers of Light being nearly a draw, in name or in feature, to the other 3.

And I love wishes, I think I could watch it another 100 times before I would think it actually -needed- to be replaced. Maybe disney will release the all *new* wishes ? or the 50th Anniversary Wishes ? keep the branding but change the show ?

Rivers of Light actually can't afford to be as popular as the others. The seating/viewing area is significantly more limited.

It's more about making AK a full featured park.

IMO these two new nighttime shows will do a great job of drawing some of he crowds out of magic kingdom. I agree that wishes will still be the most popular, but people may actually enjoy it more given that the crowds will lessen to some degree. I am excited for the shows but also excited to what it might do to crowd levels at night in the parks

rumor has it wishes is on its last leg, thats why they did some of the enhancements to to hub

I think replaying old fireworks shows ever few years would keep people pretty happy. And incorporating some of the best parts of the old show into the new one. (Tink, Shooting Star over the castle, the dual "sprinklers" on either side of the castle) I also hate to lose some of Jiminey Cricket's narration.

Any one read or hear about the management shakeup at Seaworld? I guess they have to try to capture the crowds again.

Since everyone has complained for years that the MK night time show was ridiculously packed with park goers, I will be interested to see how the crowds spread out now across all of WDW for these shows. Maybe this will lessen the burden on the MK for once.

That really is the point of ALL of this that is going on.Sure they want to attract more people to the parks, but a secondary goal is to spread the crowds , more evenly. If they can draw 10-15% of the people away from MK,and still see a five percent growth, oh boy. They also want to keep people in the parks longer. People staying off site leaving AK at 4 pm are spending money elsewhere. Not what they want.

Very true, that may be part of the strategy to have two new nightly shows at once, so they don't have too many people at one of them.

Ok...ill try to be fair here...but it's hard too.

They have been pretty spectacularly lazy with fireworks. Parades too - but not the same extent.

I will always love illumination 2000. It has an important place for me.

But it's old enough to drive now. It is really stale. Fantasmic is too. The magic kingdom is just as bad.

The reality is that they have so taken the repeat customer for granted in Orlando that then haven't been bothered to fund the developement of new shows - let alone keep them to the same standards by noticeably cutting down the bursts...ever since Iger took over. All those things were Eisner approved.

The constant swapping of Main Street electrical and Spectro has gotten pretty bad too.

I'm not a big parade/fireworks guy. If they wanted to stop them - I'd be near the last to complain. I honestly don't think it's worth the money for what is done in near every town 2x a year.

But if you are gonna make it a featured thing...then have some pride with it.

Hopefully they will bother to change some things. The reality is fantasy and sorcery in the sky - combined with illuminations was actually better in their simplicity and ability to watch over again. They were just really big, eye opening fireworks shows...less cheap off Broadway style corny acting about the power of dreams and wishes...blah blah blah.

:wizard:

I know...I'm negative. But am I really that wrong? Be honest.

I don't know anything before wishes so I can't really comment. I do love illuminations though.
