I doubt they will but even as the biggest star wars nut ever, I wouldn't say no to a rest for a while after 6 films in 6 years.

I don't know how the Marvel fans do it, I've seen quite a few of them and now they have got to a point for me where I find them boring

On the one hand I don't think they should over extend the franchise.
On the other hand, if they consistently release great films, I'm good to go.

As someone who enjoys the Marvel films, I'd say that largely they've done a good job of releasing quality films. The Thor movies have been just okay, and the latter Iron Man films kinda tread water, but the Captain America/Avengers stuff has been excellent, and GoTG and Ant Man were both a lot of fun. They've yet to make a BAD movie... but I think they may press to make movies before they have a purpose in making one.

Kind of expected. Probably the reason for them to develop these new drone spectacles and add fountains in front of the castle. In terms of fireworks they'll probably use small pyrotechnics combined with lots of lasers, projection mapping and other effects, similar to what they do at Disneyland Paris.

I think the question of a 4th trilogy will be answered by how successful the anthology films are. We might look toward Fox's experience with X-Men spin-offs as an indication of what could happen (good and bad), as the Wolverine spin-offs have been mixed commercially and critically.

If the anthology films flop, I'm sure we'll see lots more episodic trilogies. But if the anthologies prove popular, they might run with them for a while after 2019.

I personally would love another 10+ year gap between the main trilogies to keep them fresh and special.

I agree with the gap I think that would give them a new generation to appeal to and the ability to make more money.

There's no way Star Wars films will feel special going forward. The first prequel felt special, but it was so bad the other three just felt mandatory. Infrequently Star Wars didn't make a bad movie more tolerable.

TFA sort of did because of how long it has been since there had been a GOOD Star Wars movie, and the way they worked nostalgia into it.

In the end though - there is no way Disney doesn't keep cranking out a movie every year - and most likely at least every other year continuing the main story in some way. The days of mere trilogies are long gone. The mega-franchise is how it works now.

My biggest hope is that they don't try to start cranking out 2-3 movies a year. One a year will leave it feeling a bit unique. There's now something like 28 super hero movies coming out during the time that the next THREE Star Wars movies come out. Hopefully Lucasfilm will resist the draw to do multiple movies a year - or if they do do multiple movies, then the other movie is an Indiana Jones movie. (The fact that Episode VIII was allowed to push back 6 months gives me hope that they prefer to make good movies over fast movies.)

Do they realize that the movies they list as "modern" range from 22 to 30 years old? This is a really inane article.

Princess movies showing girls how to dress or behave do not cause girls to want to dress in pink frills. They do it by choice by personality. My daughter was indoctrinated in Disney Princesses from a young age. She HATED dress-up right from the start, and she did NOT like being called a princess. She's 12 now and doesn't like clothes (or much of anything). It's just not her personality. She played the princesses but preferred playing with Simba and Nala. I admit she does prefer playing videogames and such as female characters (which are sadly lacking) but nothing to do with how they dress.

I will always go to a Star Wars movie...I walked out of attack of the clones but honestly you can only take so much abuse in a fight before you throw in a towel.

But every 2 years are so is fine...and I have a screwy reason...

They are going to turn large amounts of the average public off with the merchandising onslaught...they would be wise to not tiptoe the waters of a complete rollout of new merchandise for every six months.

It sells anyway...don't beat people over the head with it.

Star Wars Rebels wasn't a prequel. It's a series currently airing.

I agree that looking at the percentages of time men vs. women characters talk in the movies is a little much. I know I have really appreciated some of the shifts away from the "damsel in distress saved by a kiss from a prince" in more recent movies (i.e. Tiana's goals of owning a restaurant/independence, Merida's spunk, athleticism, and not settling for marriage, even the "true love" saving Anna being the love between sisters). I do think there is some validity that the narrative of Disney Princess Movies (overall) can further this idea that little girls should aspire to find a man to save them/take care of them...but then again, that narrative extends far beyond Disney movies. I think there is also a large aspect of it that comes down to how kids are raised in individual households, etc. We love our Disney in my house, but we are just as likely to watch star wars, pixar, etc. and at 7, my daughter is over any princess dress up...but I digress.

This is inescapable I think. It used to be a special finite story, now it's a franchise which will consist of all sorts of stories some good, some terrible business being what it is, a lot tending towards the blah.

Which pretty accurately describes the Expanded Universe I would say...
