News Round Up 2016

If Pizza Rizzo has actual Muppets in use/preforming then this will be a must do. If not then zero reason for me to go for my families next trip in 2020.
It's still supposed to be a quick service so I wouldn't expect actual muppets within the restuarant. However I could see lot of movie and show props and stuff like that.

You want an early (totally NOT in the know) guess. I'm thinking video screens. They'll do something with video screens where you'll see the characters in the kitchen. Maybe you'lll have something similar to Crush/Laugh Floor where the characters can talk to the Patrons at the table, but I would guess that's even too much for a QS restaurant.
If mama melrose also becomes muppets themed that's where I think they could have more interaction like you said above.

Holy crow, that would be the coolest thing ever! I can't say I would wait in line for 3 hours, but It would definitely be high on my list. The problem would be finding puppeteers that could also do the voice close enough...

They would have to be crafty but I think they could pull it off even if taped stuff like "talking Mickey" and maybe some don't talk.

It was at the 2nd Unleash the Villains. It took forever because he was having conversations with each small group, so just my son and I. So many times I'd text my other son and say maybe I should get out of line as we would be spending the entire "event" doing one thing. He promptly said I was not to move (with threats), "when would you EVER meet the real Muppet and Puppeteer?"

Luckily I was in line next to two great guys who worked in very interesting entertainment positions at Universal so time moved slightly faster. And in the end glad I waited, bucket list, check. Given the event was such a disaster, at least I did something very cool!

Are there any more substantial rumors regarding a potential timing for a Mama Melrose re-theme? I'm just curious since I have an ADR there in mid-Oct.

How has that sort of thing been handled at other establishments....is there still a possibility they close it for a Muppets refurb and cancel all existing reservations or do they instead schedule a refurb far enough out where they just cut off taking ADRs for the time period they will be closed?

They could use the technology which was developed for Animator's Palate on the DCL Dream and Fantasy. That would be cool!

Agreed!! I stood in line 3 hours to meet Constantine. Of course it was the real Muppet and real Puppeteer but I think some kind of M&G of Muppets would be AWESOME!!!!!

I wonder if that could tie into that new technology the video of which has been floating around the last few days with the author of the article speculating int he future this could replace m&G with Mickey, etc. .... I could see using advanced anamatronics for meeting Kermit, Miss Piggy, etc. working

I saw that. My thought was they would never replace the furs and faces ............. but DS said it might work well for SW Land and certainly could fit for this land. Good catch!!

Little newsworthy tidbit from Netflix:

"From September onwards, Netflix will become the exclusive U.S. pay TV home of the latest films from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar,"

That's interesting. I actually thought Disney was going to develop their own online streaming service with all their content, considering that right now they offer a very limited content through Netflix. They must have reached a pretty good deal.

I'm pretty sure this is just the second phase of the original contract. When Disney signed with Netflix for access to their catalog phase 1 was access to Disney Channel and older Disney movies, which I believe Disney has full control of which ones and for how long/how many views. Then second phase of the contract, if I recall correctly, is this where Netflix will have the rights to air Disney's new movie before the are available on other services. What will be interesting is too see how long each movie stay available on Netflix.
