News Round Up 2016

Sure you can... Its the "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Very Most Merriest Time Period of the Winter Seasons End of the Year Christmas Time Magical Show and Stage Event" aka MVMCPVMMTPWSEYCTMSSE

:D

THAT I'd pay an extra $100 for. IMHO there are far too few celebrations of Time Period of the Winter Seasons.

I also don't have an interest in the Halloween party, and would love to do the Christmas party this year if there was more to it,,,+/-$100 is a little steep for a cup of lukewarm cocoa and some tasteless cookies. So, I'm thinking that for our trip, on MVMCP nights, we'll be spending our evenings elsewhere.

When we went to the Christmas party, my kids were the right age to enjoy the extra night time stuff. I still remember riding Splash during the wonderful firework show. They were shooting fireworks off from all directions and we rode Splash five or six times without getting out of the boat because no lines. Every time we came outside and floated, our whole boat was just oohing and ahhing....and it was just our family in the boat. Will always remember that 80 degree night! Only thing that ruined it was they took our family picture that was to be sent to us in the mail. About three weeks later we got a real nice Disney frame with a letter that apologized because the camera was broken and they didn't know it. The frame was free as a result. Was a wonderful night none the less.

Decisions decisions...

Will be there during Halloween parties. However, for the price of Halloween party entrance for the 4 of us, I can do a day at Universal... hmmmm....

Say hi to Harry for me. We'll be there during the Christmas parties, but there's no way I'll fork out that kind of money for 5 people and then have to put up with the kind of crowds they've had the last couple years. Our party nights at Disney's are done.

IDK - not a fan of the idea of using a Disney animated cartoon to push an agenda, even if it is a good/valid one like this. The problem with making an animated Disney film with a lesbian Princess is that this would rapidly overshadow the story being told in the movie, and it would be very, very difficult to make it feel organic to the story. A smarter move to me is to do something similar to as people pointed out with HTTYD2 (which I thought was pretty obvious that they were indicating the character was gay). In other words, have a gay character but don't center the story around the character being gay - as is typical with a princess story in which the story revolves at least partly around falling in love - Frozen worked well as a sisterly story, but still the center of the story was Anna and her relationship to Hans and Kristoff.

I suppose right now you could say "Elsa is Gay" and it doesn't change the story at all. However, if you have a added a scene in the movie where Elsa comes out, it doesn't add anything to movie and again would merely distract from what the movie is trying to say - which IS the message of tolerance that those in support of this idea are trying to bolster.

Again, I circle back to that animated kids movies are not the place to push agendas of any kind. (I don't want to see white supremacy or WWII genocide represented in my Disney movie either.)

Interesting note.

D23 posted a picture of DCA's Tower of Terror as it opened there on this day in 2004. Taking a quick look at the comments practically everyone is begging Disney not to change it to Guardians of the Galaxy.

I really seems like a terrible concept idea though doesn't it. I wonder if "internet uproar" could really affect the decision. It has occasionally done so. Us East Coasters all seem to feel like "it's not us, that's fine", but we should also be saying we think it's a bad idea, because if it succeeds, it'll happen here eventually.

From all of the reports of this rumor it seems the person really pushing this is Bob Chapek no one else necessarily wants it to happen.

While I agree with you, it just wouldn't make sense if it were to happen on the East Coast, regardless if the West Coast was successful or not. West Coast can have the (big name) characters, thus West Coast can expand the theme to other areas besides their Tower of Terror. East Coast can't have the (big name) characters, so what's the point of changing it on the East Coast. As was stated before, if it's really about the licensing agreement, the easiest thing would be to take from Tokyo Disney.

Putting Marvel on the West Coast makes sense, because they have the ability to have some actual good Marvel theme'd stuff there. Putting Guardians on the East Coast would leave us with what other options for Marvel expansion? An Ant-Man ride? A Falcon ride? A Vision ride? A Black Panther ride? The name recognition alone won't draw crowds.

To me it seems like putting Guardian on the East Coast is a dead end. No where else to go.

But hey, maybe that's why I'm making what I'm making at my job, and Chapek's making what he's making at his job...
