News Round Up 2016

Hmmm...I'm not surprised. Star Wars did awesome for a December release. Make it a Christmas tradition. And it gives a bit more breathing room for Rogue One which was only 6 months apart before. So it does make sense (to me at least). BUT....that also puts it in the same release time as Avatar 2, no? Isn't that December 2017?

Isn't the Avatar sequel scheduled for a December 2017 release? I sense a disturbance in the force!

That was my first thought too. Star Wars destroying Avatar 2 domestically at the same time Avatar 2 is destroying Star Wars internationally. It would be box office craziness.

But none of that will happen, Cameron isn't gonna hit his Dec 2017 deadline anyway ;)

Lol...you think he's gonna meet that date? He's never delivered a movie on time...

Can't build a boatride in neon with goofy Joe in six years...

If they are aiming to promote TSL in 2018, they really need Pandora to open in 2017. They'll get more mileage out of both if they are at least a year apart.
No doubt that's the goal...

I just don't trust the "artists" involved to shut up and get it up

Well I know you don't like Joe and you know I do but the WDI changes were done in part to get that part of the company under control. Chapek isn't happy with things taking so long. With Weis in Chapek in place I don't think we see anymore delays on that project. Early 2017 is the latest projection.

Perhaps...but it's possible that's moving forward.

When you've already "worked" on something for so long...the delays may be already set in stone.

Hopefully the RIDICULOUS schedule had massive delays padded in. Knowing who they were dealing with that would have been wise.

Based on seeing them working just over a week ago I think they are right on schedule for that early 2017 opening if no more delays happen.

Based on what?

There's still superstructure showing the last picture I saw and the outside is usually the EASY part of Disney rides.

Still...I can understand the hope that they are getting a lot closer to finishing and can meet the schedule.

Maybe they are actually paying for overtime and bonuses for the first time in forever? (No pun intended)

There's a real reason to get it done by early 2017 though...studios is gonna be a warzone that may actually make people walk away angry

There's no point in playing Cameron's game and delay Avatar land to get both the land and the film at the same time anymore. It might've been a reason for the whole thing taking so long at the beginning, but I don't think that's the case anymore. The current priority is to create more capacity at the other parks while DHS becomes a mess.
