News Round Up 2016

I will say, I think Animal Kingdom is going to need more places to eat and drink. I've seen plenty of new places to grab a beer or mixed drink which I think is good, but I'd like to see another restaurant in the Africa area and perhaps something on the opposite side of the Tree of Life.. perhaps something with a view of the tree and ROL area.. something elevated... That would be an awesome signature dinning event! I wonder if will see some sort of event coming to AK in the fashion of food and garden? I'm not sure what that would be but I could see something coming in after Avatar settles in to keep people coming back? Just a random thought.
They are opening a new signature restuarant...

I know you didn't. To me though when avatar is finished its a full day park.

Yes Animal Kingdom has underperformed. But look at Epcot and DHS thy aren't doing great either but still are in the top theme parks in the world.

People are too worried about rides. If you want rides go to a amusement park. This is a theme park, it's not meant to be all rides. Animal kingdom has two great shows, animal trails, will have a bunch of nighttime entertainment, dining has been expanded, merchandise has been expanded, etc.

Agreed 100%. I do think they need more dining and merchandise offerings. Mostly dining. I'm not sure there is enough capacity to handle all the people that will be there at night.

Huh? Animal Kingdom has underperformed? I've seen year over year increases. All due respect, AK has done well with the lack of attractions and nighttime hours when compared to DHS and EPCOT. Animal Kingdom is going to be awesome. Can't wait to experience all the new when I visit in about 4 weeks!
Absolutely...1,000 %

It is the largest, most expensive, highest operational cost park in wdw...it was never meant to hang with MGM at 10 mil annually.

Period.

I'm aware. But that said, they still need more. How many Sig dinning or even sit down dinning do the other parks have?
DHS only has one signature I believe. Epcot has two. MK has one. Most signature restaurants are at resorts.

I understand but I think a lot of that has to do with people thinking it's just a zoo. That of course brought on Nahtazu! That didn't help much.

Ok, I shouldn't have said sig restaurants.. Just think about the lack of sit down restaurants.

Don't believe the hype too much. People aren't so enthralled with Rock work that they'll be insulated forever. "Theme park" is becoming too generic a term just as "amusement park" once was...

Uni is doing impressive work up the road...including rides. To think that that Disney can forever not worry about rides other than simulators is delusional and outdated.

The times they are a changing.

DAK needs one more full land to really be all day...and a good one at that. And some needed retrofits in Dino land and the world's most expensive fake mountain thereafter.

With Tiffins AK will have a total of four sit downs. I think I would agree that another one would help out.

That was 16 years ago...that's NOT why they have never had major attendance upticks...it's more than that. And again - indisputable

See this is where I disagree. I'm excited for what is coming to AK I am hyped. Theme park and amusement park are two different things. Six flags for example is not a theme park at least in my opinion.

I know Universal is going impressive work. I agree with that. Disney is delusional to think universal can't touch them when in fact they keep getting closer and closer with everything they are doing. Look at Kong for example that's rumored to start soft opening later this month and Disney can't even renovate a boat ride in Epcot in the amount of time universal can build something brand new.

I think once avatar is done, Everest won't be the most expensive fake mountain anymore.

I will say yes they waited too long to add a major addition to AK. That's Disneys fault flat out. You have to look at who's in charge though. Put as little into the parks with getting as much as possible back. That's the Iger way.

We completely agree here...
The state of the constuction in Epcot is laughable - frankly.

And while I will trust it's a bigger deal than I would immediately think...it's taking pathetically long to add replicant matter at midway mania and soarin as well. They've DONE this before...just get it done.

It's all about the money....

AK: 4 table service (1 sig)
Tusker House
Yak & Yeti
Tiffins
I always forget about Rain Forest Cafe...

DHS: 5 table service (1 Sig) - Studios will be gaining more options with SWL and TSL
EPCOT: 18 table servie (2 Sig)
MK: 8 table service (1 Sig) - Plus all the restaurants at the hotels that are easily accessible from the monorail.

So I think will see the need increase for more dining options for a park that pulls in more visitors than DHS right now and will be adding night time hours. Just food for thought. Literally.

DHS will be only gaining one table service for sure. I believe Toy story will only have a quick service option. Also it's still possible DHS could lose a table service depending on how things end up. DHS and Epcot have quick access to many resort options as wells

Mgm had always been half the size of the others...so lb for lb the dining isn't that bad...
What is the "signature" in magic kingdom, if i may ask?

Yes, I'm glad you mentioned DHS and Epcot having all those other options near by. That is a luxury that DAK does not have. Unless everyone will head over to AKL for Boma, Sanaa or Jiku.

I changed up my AK day in October in order to see these night happenings !!Is the menu for Tiffins out yet ???
