News Round Up 2016

Tinker Bell, Mary Poppins, Dumbo and Aladdin may get some more company in Disney's aerial arsenal. The Walt Disney Co. has filed for an exception to FAA rules in order to use drones for entertainment purposes at Walt Disney World.

If I recall, not very long ago Disney filed a patent for some sort of drone that would be used in big quantities for choreographed shows in the sky. I remember that some people even feared this actually meant the end of firework displays.

Just got back from AK for the day. Floating mountains are bigger in person. The pictures make them look smaller. I saw lots of workers on that project and rivers of light.

Only noticeable thing I saw was the bridge at the safari that rocks was not rocking but who knows maybe my driver just skipped that affect or something.

I will have pictures of things when I come back!

Yes. It's been looked at to be added to every show except for Fantasmic but they haven't found a good way to add them yet.

It frequently doesn't. Didn't for me last year either. Can't remember about the trip before that.

The bridge has to my knowledge never rocked every time. We rode it twice in August/Sept and the bridge rocked once and didn't the other.

I believe the bridge effect is specific to the speed at which the vehicle drives over it. The on-off switch is based upon how quickly the driver goes.

Disney Springs tonight with dinner at Portobello. New WoD expansion looks great. Didn't walk all the way down to splitsville but did check out the new Star Wars store. Nothing new really it's just the same Star Wars stuff everywhere. Planet Hollywood is now closed and they were already working on taking things off the exterior.

I was there on the 22nd. Same thing happened to me. Maybe it's down temporarily because of electrical work related to the lights and things going up...

Otherwise everything was in tip top shape. Did you get to the new seating area at Flame Tree or the new food options in Harambe? The Flame tree seating locked good.

No - I rode it twice in December. Once it rocked and once it didn't. What they said about driver seems correct

I didn't get to the new seating by flame tree. I did see the new marketplace which I thought is a great addition and looks like it's always been there. Unfortunately it rained all morning so I didn't get around as much as I wanted.
