News Flash! I bought some non-mom jeans!!!

I agree, cheap look good, don't last too long. One of the reasons I don't wash my jeans after every use (if they don't need it.) Yes I know that is another thread. ;)

I was so glad to read the thread about how often people wash jeans. Otherwise I would have been washing them all the time, wearing them out in the washing machine. It's not as if they get that dirty like my other pants do since they don't attract the pet hairs like the black pants and knit materials do. Those do have to be washed more often.

I would have a hard time figuring out how to get even a friend to buy non-mom jeans. Maybe get her shopping, ir, I love to have someone to go shopping with, even if it's not true. Then see something that you are going to try on and suggest that she try some on. It's a touchy thing for sure. I'm always very worried about offending others. I know, I may not seem like I'd be that way, but I really am. Probably to excess.

I bought my mom non-mom/non old-lady jeans from Kohls. My mom is in her 60s and will not even consider anything that says "low rise" so I had to hunt high and low to find jeans that didn't come up to her bra and didn't say "low rise". They did say low waist though.

When she saw them she complained about not having an elastic waist (did I mention shes been a mom for nearly 30 years?) and they were so long (not). I got her to try them on and WOW. I told her she looked 20lbs lighter and she came back with "thats because I lost 20lbs!" (I'm a bad daughter) and I came back with well they make you look 20lbs lighter than the jeans you just had on (SNL took those jeans out of her closet for their skit).

Anyways, she loves them but will only wear them out. I did show her how to wear them with a heel to dress it up and the appropriate tops and shoes to dress it down.

Moral of the story: If you don't do it yourself your kid will do it for you one of these days.

My friends got me to buy my non-mom jeans. They did it in a way that was not offensive at all. I had just lost 2 sizes and they kept saying your clothes are too big you need some new ones. You should get a pair of low rise jeans. So I told them I needed help. They took me shopping and got me to buy all kinds of stuff - the jeans, those camisole type shirts, low cut sweaters, etc. It was so much fun.

I am so appreciative they did that. I'm really liking my new look.

Jennifer, your weight loss was a good intro for your friends to be able to to suggest the new clothes without insulting you. For me, I knew that my old jeans made me look fat(ter), but I didn't know the alternatives. I can't imagine my DD going shopping with me--maybe some day, but I think I'd drive her crazy (and she'd drive me crazy).

The key to shopping with your daughter is be open to anything she wants you to try on (size appropriate). You may be suprised what she picks out. I picked out two t-shirts and a button down to be worn over the t-shirts (one t-shirt at a time, both shirts went with the blouse). My mom protested all the way to the dressing room, tried them on and was thrilled with how they made her look!

Maybe I'll go shopping with her over spring break. I'll try to behave myself. :teeth:

My biggest problem now that I have noticed is that I constantly pull my hair back in a wad on my head or in a clip. I am trying to grow it out and it is down to my shoulders but I am a nurse and so it is a habit for me to pull it back that was beat into your head 10 years ago in school.

I also don't know what to do with my hair, but it's the opposite problem. I don't know how to pull it back with anything. It just hangs there looking stupid. :crazy2:

I know I make my DD crazy. She really hates it if I shop in the same stores as her. We went shopping for tops to go out one night. It was DD, her friend Kristen (22) and myself. DD found one top and tried it on. It looked okay, but not great. So I tried it on. Kristen thought it looked great on me. DD had found a much nicer top by then, but it bugged her that I was going to get the top she originally tried on.

Sometimes she thinks I am trying to dress years younger. I know that I am 45 but I am not heavy, some people say I don't look 45. So why not make the best of it. Shoot, my brother who is 5 1/2 years younger has more grey hair than I do, even when I need to get my hair colored.

Since I got my bellybutton pierced, the low rise jeans are much more comfortable. Even the dress pants my DH bought me for Christmas are low rise and they look great on and feel great too.

DD has a few pairs of jeans that she can't wear because they are too big. I told her I might go through them and see if any fit. Then I can get rid of some of my "mom" jeans.

CathrynRose had a thread a couple weeks ago about a special hairclip that was quite comical - I have no idea how to link otherwise I would.

CathryRose, did you ever find that hairclip?

Also, I haven't been on-line all weekend, my best attempt at a clean explaination of camel toe would be something along the lines of that Dr. Spock hand greeting.

Guess what! My DD got lots of jeans for Christmas, but every single one of them did not fit, all too big. I had even checked the brands and sizes of ones she had to make sure they would fit. Some where along the road, she started slimming down, not losing weight, just moving it around. Now none of her jeans fit.

Guess who just got five pairs of jeans from her- without a hassle yet? ME ME ME. :goodvibes :teeth:

The only pair I didn't get were the pair I really wanted, but were still too small for me and too big for her. I don't know what we are going to do with them. Hopefully I will lose some weight and then be able to get into them. She actually had no problem giving me her "non-mom" jeans.

I told her about this thread and she smiled. (Actually I whispered it to her as I have no voice right now. I am home on sick leave all week  :crazy2: )

I broke down and bought "non-mom" jeans too. I love them. :thumbsup2
I had to go out and buy all new clothes I lost about 4 pants sizes since the summer. And now the size I am at is getting too baggy.

So tell me, Astryd, how you lost that much weight since summer. I would be really interested in finding out what diet you used.
