I think it depends on where you live. Tennies are normal wear here for just about everyone no matter where you go. Sweatshirts are fine if they're not the super baggy, thick kind and so are sweaters. People of all ages wear the nicer workout sets while out shopping. I do agree that holiday sweatshirts are evil. ;)
Just because they're dressed that way doesn't necessarily mean they llok good, KWIM? ;)

True. And those nicer workout sets...I call them 'after plastic surgery outfits' because on TV the ladies are always wearing them over their bandaged chests. :rotfl2:

I have non-mom jeans and my DD (19) got a little ticked that I was shopping in the same store that she does. I bought myself two pair of embroidered jeans from Pac-Sun and I love them. I found a great pair that I really liked, but they ran small and the largest size they came in (usually my size) were 11's. So we bought them for DD for Christmas. She has slimmed down some because normally these would have fit her, but they were too big for her.

Also, for my 45th birthday, I went and got my bellybutton pierced. I told my DH it was either that or a tattoo. He wasn't happy about a tattoo, so I went with the bellybutton piercing. Then two weeks later, he says he will pay for a tattoo if I want it as long as it isn't because I was turning 45. I told him that I had played with the idea for a long time, so "no" it wasn't because I was turning 45. I still haven't gotten the tattoo, but I have not ruled it out completely. Maybe for my 46th birthday. I promised him it wouldn't be anything huge. Something small and simple.

Are all of these (the boy cut Old Navy jeans) the worn out looking ones? You know, the frayed/ones with holes? I loved at our Old Navy and the selection was poor and all of the boy cut were the frayed ones, but I didn't know if that was just all that our store had left or if that's normally all they have.

congrats to you all who bit the bullet and bought the non mom jeans...however i have a very mom bod after three kids all by c section...just how am i supposed to roll up or fold up my belly flap to fit into those low riders........??

The ones I bought were not frayed/didn't have holes. They had a couple of levels of darkness (none that faded) to choose from as well.

I did have a bit of a hard time finding my size. Since I'm 5'8" with a long inseam, I needed their "long" length with the 34" inseam. One of the salespeople was helpful there though. :)

Sounds like your store might have had low stock for those jeans? I know you went shopping recently, was Old Navy one of the stores you went to?

I'll try a different Old Navy. I don't have one real close to me, but the one I went to is in a mall and probably gets picked over faster than the free standing one. Yes, I went to the Old Navy recently, the day I went to the Gap.

TENIA66, since I refuse to have a muffin top I have to make sure my shirts are long enough to come down over the top of my pants. I'm not showing my belly like my DD does! I have a few extra pounds in my butt, but even more in my belly. :crazy2: I need to do something about that.

I know whereof you speak!

Didn't think I could possible wear the "low waist" jeans with the "hey, you've been pregnant...kiss your flat stomach goodbye!" tummy into them either, but I was surprised.

Give it a chance and go try some of the brands/styles mentioned on this thread...you'll probably find at least one that works for you too!

Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klien make some great "mid-rise" jeans that are not mom jeans, but don't let it all hang out either. :thumbsup2 I am actually very small (size 0-2), but you would not catch me DEAD in those low rise jeans. That little tummy that develops when you have a child would just hang over and make me look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

I broke down and bought "non-mom" jeans too. I love them. :thumbsup2
I had to go out and buy all new clothes I lost about 4 pants sizes since the summer. And now the size I am at is getting too baggy.

Congrats on your weight lossparty:

I have this major after having my twins. I just "tuck it in". :rotfl2:

I love old navy jeans too. The thing about old navy is I don't think that they hold up as well as other brands. But I am very hard on my jeans. My favorites right now though are a pair of Levi's 515.

I agree, cheap look good, don't last too long. One of the reasons I don't wash my jeans after every use (if they don't need it.) Yes I know that is another thread. ;)

Yes I have to tuck it in too, and wear a belt of they might fall down when walking. In fact right now the only thing fat about me is my belly, the low rise jeans actually help hide it. (if I can keep them from falling down.) :scared:

I was out with a group of mom friends (and kids) yesterday. One of them was wearing mom jeans with a turtle neck tucked in. I wanted to take her aside and tell her got get new jeans. If she was a closer friend I would of (not so much take her aside, take her shopping and sugest trying them on.) It was a good example of how anyone can look better in the right close.
