News and Developments for Future In-Person runDisney Events

Do we think they will announce the new kids events before registration opens? I don't even see a "registration coming soon" for whatever that still-to-be-determined event will be.

Registration question - once you register for your first race, does the information stay in your account (such as shirt size, credit card info, etc) - making it quicker for the next one? I plan to try for virtual wine and dine and then register for Princess later so I'm hoping the info carries over, making the process faster?
It will retain your basic info (name, address, DOB) but there will be a number of dopdown menu and radio button questions that you to answer every time. You also need to put in emergency contact info. My credit card information is in there but I can't remember if that is because it is linked to my Disney account or if I just have auto fill set on my computer to save time.

My wife and I both have our own MDE accounts but only I've registered for a RunDisney event post the change from Active. Last night we checked our respective accounts and here are my observations/suggestions:

  • When my wife went to the RunDisney login page (https://manage.rundisney.com/login) she was able to log in using her MDE credentials so they do have an SSO back into that system.
  • Very little of her demographic information came over (it had her birthday but not gender or address for example) so she went in and filled that all out so she doesn't have to on registration day.
  • There is no place to pre-fill payment information though that might come over from the MDE account. I really don't remember. If you have an MDE account I would add the payment info to be safe.
  • Because I registered my son for a previous kids race his information was viewable in my RunDisney account but I saw no way to add anyone like we do with friends and family in MDE. If you and a spouse, friend, ect want to both register I'd have each of you set up an MDE account, RunDisney account, and register yourselves. When it comes to the actual trip you can have one person manage it in MDE but for registration have everyone do their own.
  • If you are going to try to register a minor for an even have the person that is least likely to be closed out of their race do it. If you want to do Dopey and your spouse wants to do the full marathon it is better for your spouse to register the minor because it is less likely their race will sell out while they are taking the extra time.
  • Bonus suggestion: Get PhotoPass and link anyone that you are going with to your MDE so you can share pictures. Unless they change this all of the race photos will be in PhotoPass. When I traveled with two of my friend's family to W&D in 2018 all of us had someone doing a race. We were all tied to one person's PhotoPass. If anyone is staying longer than anyone else make them the "owner" of the PhotoPass so it stays their whole trip.

Does anyone have any feel for which races will fill up first for Wine and Dine? I'm assuming 5k first, 10k second but trying to get a sense of would the half still be available if i tried to sign up for the 5k first OR would the half fill up before the Two Course Challenge. I know nobody knows - just looking for a feel of how things played out for past races. This one will probably be a completely different animal due to all of the pent up demand. (What about Marathon Weekend in January?). Thanks!

I took a look at my runDisney account this morning and saw this at the bottom...

Looks like they are allowing you to pay extra for that bib now.

As much as I’d like the early registration opportunity I wouldn’t do it. I’d rather put that money towards actual races, not the opportunity to pay for a race. I’m just shocked because it was supposedly already closed out. Do you think they’re old links, or is the club actually open again?

Edit to fix a random double quote, and a typo!:confused3

I clicked on the link to see what would happen and they're still closed.

If you click on the actual Become a Member link, it's to register for next race season: Oct 1, 2021-Sep 30, 2022 (coincidentally Disney's fiscal year as well).
I liked the idea of giving that kind of money to one of the charities for a bib instead. Someone on this board mentioned that. Maybe wouldn’t get you all the way there, but I’d certainly feel better about it! Just my own thought, not to degrade those that like the club.

If you click on Become a Member, you get redirected to the page, but the page has a red button that says "Registration for this event is closed". I just tried. :)

EDIT: LOL I see I'm not alone!
ALSO: I didn't realize I had to log my virtual LK runs so I can do that now too, thanks for making me log in!!

You don’t have to log your Virtual Lion King runs. It’s entirely optional.
