News and Developments for Future In-Person runDisney Events

y'all, i'm sad and scared. this will be my FIRST race, and i'll be out of the country for registration (Princess). I found this in the FAQs on runDisney:

Early registration for runDisney events, including Annual Passholders (AP) and Disney Vacation Club (DVC), will not be offered. Gold and Platinum Club runDisney Members will continue to have early registration opportunities as an entitlement of their membership level.
I had not noticed that. Only Disney could have completely contradictory statements regarding early registration on their web sit at the same time.

It's been closed, well before COVID. I don't know if they'd open it back up, but window of opportunity is small, considering it looks like W&D registration opens the 13th?
Oh okay, thanks for clarifying! I only really looked into it when it was first advertised so I didn't realize it was already closed. None of the benefits were worth the cost in my situation.

I guess the plus side is I don't have to stress about a POT race this year, because I'm no where near fast enough to make that cutoff. The down side is I'll have lots to stress about on registration day!

same! I was going to do an early fall HM to get a pot but sub 2:00 is a bit too fast for me. I can’t believe APs don’t get early registration anymore. I knew it was going to be hard to snag a bib but I was thankful I would have two chances. Which is now not the case. 😭

Did anyone happen to notice that Marathon Weekend details do not yet include Castaway Challenge at this time? Any speculation that this is an oversight, or maybe allowing flexibility as Disney Cruising not yet back in full swing?

They're likely waiting to see when cruising can actually return. They had two test cruises planned, one this week, and both were cancelled. Lots of unknowns there.

I’m enormously excited about today’s news. Intruiged by the “surprise” weekend. I am guessing it’s going to be rotating through its most popular IP silos in some fashion, as reflected on the Disney+ splash page

On second thought, this is probably what they're going to do.

Club runDisney Platinum members will be in the first non-POT corral. That's a guess and not a statement of fact.
Well, I guess I’m going to have to try to run extra fast on my downhill marathon at the end of July. I have a barely under 2 HM, but not 1:53 or a sub-4 marathon. I was originally planning on running this marathon for time but I had to take a bit of a speed break from mid-May to mid-June, so I lost a bit of my speed that I had just gotten back. :(
Still - there’s an outside chance that I can make this work if the heatwave leaves the Seattle area!

Yea, I'm not so sure about the marathon cutoff just yet. It could easily be 4:15 or 4:30 as well. A 4:30 cutoff would be around a 2:08 HM. A 4:15 cutoff would be around a 2:00 flat HM.

Did anyone else notice the sunrise yoga during Princess Weekend? I'm not a yoga person at all but I'm very interested in that. Particularly if it is in one of the parks.
In front of Cinderella Castle before the park opens per this (link). It occurs the day before the 5k.
I'm not a yoga person either but I was excited to see something new! The photo of the cast members doing yoga in front of the castle on International Yoga Day was pretty cool. I would consider it if it wasn't the morning that the expo opens.

So if I shell out the $478.63 for the Gold level Club runDisney, I am basically guaranteed an entry in each race weekend? I hate to say I am seriously considering this since there is no DVC/AP early registration.
I believe (with no evidence) that Club runDisney has been a major disappointment for Disney as the value proposition just was not there for many/most people. Changing POTs and getting rid of early registration for DVC and APs my be a desperate attempt to increase Club runDisney membership.

Again, this only makes sense if they open registration for it back up. They'd have to do so like...today...if they want to bolster numbers for W&D registration.

runDisney FAQs also say no TA bibs
I was counting on that. Instead of dopey maybe I will try for goofy, since it seemed to not go as quickly as in the past? But who knows.

I just got an email from a travel agent about booking with them, with an tiny foot note, they haven’t heard if they actually can do the race registrations....

I am so excited!! I don’t think we can make any races this year since I am already pulling the kids out of school in Dec. and April.

I am shocked they are coming back with Wine and Dine this year. I thought for sure they would start up with Marathon weekend.

I am a little said we didn’t keep our trip that we planned to W+D weekend. I moved our trip to Dec. to finally see all the Xmas stuff instead of just the start.

Guess we will back in Nov. 2022. I am tempted to attempt to register for Marathon weekend. Dh won’t notice an extra trip a month after our last right?
