News about Treehouse Villas !! ??

Since they are 3 bedrooms....I would guess they will be the same price as a grand villa.....or at least $800 a night. I just guessing of course, but that's my guess.

Holy Shiva!!!!!!
Even if there was a 40% off code... Crimmey!

Again - doubt that they'll be THAT much.

They are not comparable in most respects to a Grand Villa.

I dont think they'll be quite THAT much, as I don't think they include laundry facilities for example and ... my guess .. is that they won't be furnished as opulently as the grand villas.

Grand Villas sleep up to 12. The max occupancy of the treehouse is eight. Two per bedroom and one pull out sofa.

Not to mention, the Grand Villas include a lot more space than the Treehouse units allow for.

The Treehouses compare quite well with the Fort Wildnerness cabins and I suspect they'll be slightly more than the cabins are currently. Probably closer to the 400$ a night range.

Just my guess.

It looks like 3 bedrooms and a pull out on your floor plan. I know the orignals had their own washer and dryers. This time of year a studio is $500.

3 bedrooms 2 people per bedroom = 6 plus 2 on the pull out. I don't see any pullouts in the bedrooms.. did I miss one or two?

And the cabins currently range from $255 to $395 a night..

I just think the treehouses are somewhere between the DVC properties (which have a lot more to offer) and the cabins.. I don't think they are directly comparable to the DVC properties.

Truthfully neither of us are privy to the plans for pricing so we're both guessing. You are guessing one way and me another. Given Disney's love of money, you may well be right.

We'll just have to wait till they're finished to find out probably. I hate waiting.

They have their own clubhouse and pool area.... shared among them all..

I remember they were about the same price as 2 rooms at the Poly. Of course, from the new plans...they don't look quite as large as the old ones. They had a bedroom and laundry downstairs. There were 2 bedrooms and a pullout upstairs. I can't remember how many beds were in the upstairs bedrooms. A garden view room at the Poly during value season is $340. Maybe, they will be a little less during value season, but I think they will still be up there. I hope I am wrong though.

And in the new plans there doesn't appear to be any downstairs whatsoever.. (hence me wondering about the laundry situation..)

Still tho.. $680 a night for up to 8 people.. that's not bad.. if that's how it works out.

The old ones are being torn down (according to the permit) but ALL 60 will be rebuilt!!! And as I noted, they look remarkably similar .. I suspect the new ones will be more energy efficient and better construction.

The international CM's have been or will be moved to the same dorms as North American CP students in other parts of the property.

Oh no. There's a chance I may get to be one of the international CM's this year and I really wanted to stay in a treehouse! :sad1:

Seems like the rates were similar for the Fairway Villas and the Treehouses....although I believe the Treehouses were more expensive.

I'm thinking there is a stackable washer and dryer near the entry door. What do you think?

It seems like this should be priced more then a 2 bedroom DVC but not quite as much as a Grand villa. Same occupancy and utilities (2 bath, kitchen) as a 2 bdrm DVC but being a stand alone unit with full deck would make it much more desirable (along with the extra privacy the third bedroom provides).

I agree.....looking closely there appear to be two bifold doors, on one side appears to be closet/storage space and on the other it could very well be Washer/Dryer......it is either that or some type of mechanical unit, such as hot water heater/furnace or something.....but I don't think this would be where those would be located. Makes more sense to be the combo unit.

During my last round of golf at LBV, I hit my drive on hole 16 (i think) off one of the villas. I guess if I repeat this feat in the future, I better yell FORE! I always wanted to stay in one of these as a kid, and I look forward to when they are completed.

I agree, that's a possibility. I don't think there is any way there won't be laundry facilities in the new THV.

In 1986 the price was the same for both. I was originally booked for the Treehouses and stayed there a week. At the end of the week I could not stand to go to an offsite hotel :sad1: and decided I could afford another two nights. :yay: The Treehouses were full up and we had to move to the Villas for our last two nights. Paid the same at both. We were pleased with both.:woohoo:

Thanks. It may have just been the yearly price increase that made me think one was a little more expensive than the other....or a stay at a different time of the year.

Those look really cool! But, I can't help wondering, with all the trees and water so close to the units, has there been or is there more of a problem with snakes and/or alligators in that area?

::yes::
That was me.
There is a table in the ADA standards for hotels that says how many rooms need to be accessible, based on the total number of rooms in the resort.
For a hotel of 51 to 75 rooms, 3 would have to be meet minimum accessibilty; things like grab bars, raised seat toilets and minimum door width of at least 32 inches (most regular hotel doorways are 34 to 36 inches wide), . Only 1 would be required to have a roll-in shower. They might have to do a little rearranging to fit in a roll in shower, but the roll in shower bathrooms in the DVC rooms are the same size as the regular bathrooms with showers.

It would be relatively easy to provide access to the raised entry area. They could put an elevator the goes from ground level to the entry level deck or they could wrap a ramp that leads to the deck around the outside of the building. They would only have to do that with a total of 4 rooms (3, plus 1 roll in shower room).

Some of the other accessibility requirements would not change the design - like 3 rooms would need to be supplied with things like strobe light fire alarms and features for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Things like faucets, light switches and door knobs that can be operated with one hand, higher electrical outlets and lower wall switches were not always common when the standards were written, but they are pretty common parts of 'universal design' now.

So, handicapped accessibility would be no problem.

Question: IF these units were simply added to SSR inventory, would any of THEM actually need to be ADA compliant? Or could they simply convert a number of "other" SSR rooms into ADA compliant rooms to satisfy the requirement.

If the treehouses functionally become a PART of SSR, would in essence just become another section like Congress Park or Carousel, I'm unsure if they'd need to convert ANY of the ACTUAL treehouses to be ADA compliant and still satisfy the letter of the law. Would they?

My first trip to Disney my friends and I booked the Treehouse Villas. It was the only room able to accommodate 7 adults at the time we booked. I'm glad we got to stay there. Great choice without knowing it.

For the treehouses to become functionally part of the DVC resort (and not just use their front desk facilities) would require:

- An adjustment on the number of points available for sale and ownership in the SSR timeshare

And, while I'm not 100% sure, it would probably require a vote among the current owners of SSR ... and would have to include an increased cost per point for each owner for the new facilities... and probably increased maintenance fees over time.. Adding 60 units to the timeshare is not insignificant. And what if an owner doesn't want to pay any increases for an addition they didn't want or need? That's got nightmare written all over it.

Disney isn't going to spend however many million dollars to renovate these and then just give them to SSR owners. Why on earth would they do that?

Not going to happen. I can't see it - no way - no how.

Now.. I could see them offering the Treehouse Villas DVC as a separate thing. That might be huge. But I can't see them just including the whole property over to SSR owners at no extra cost...

Or am I misunderstanding what you mean?

As for the accessibility questions ... given only four of them need be ADA compliant and previous units had ramps.. I suspect you'll see four new ramps once again...
