News about the ABD photo CDs

I just booked my first ABD (and its my honeymoon) for next September. We are doing the Germany trip. Is this "photo cd" included for free in your package or do you have to pre-purchase it for a large sum of money like Photopass+ ?

Not suggesting that the ABD guides should do this, but one of our Tauck Bridges guides burned CDs as a surprise for the entire group. A photo CD is not typically included in a TB trip, but our guide took photos throughout the trip and gave every family a CD at the farewell dinner. She was the only guide for a group of 40 people and there was much less "time on your own" than there is typically on an ABD, so she was very busy and still found time to create this nice surprise.

All we got the first day was the duffle bag with an ABD pen. Nothing else. I agree, it's not the reason I choose ABD, but it really was a nice little extra. No idea why they've stopped.

Yes, that is true. Each itinerary has a unique set of daily pins that you can only get by taking that trip. It's very fun!

On our Italy trip last month, we received the duffle bag + the pens as well as some lovely chocolates upon arrival.

Also, when the pictures are uploaded to the cloud, be sure to check and make sure all the pictures are there. On the first day we had something like 400+ pictures uploaded, but there were whole days and events missing from the cloud. Our ABD guide contacted Disney who fixed the situation and uploaded the rest of the pictures from our trip which brought the number to over a thousand pictures, I believe. So if pictures are missing at the front end, it may be possible to still locate them if you ask early enough.

We're 13 weeks post trip and we haven't gotten the promised pins 1-3 yet.

That happened to us in Alaska (I'm not a big pin person anyways) and they did show up eventually. (out of Ca.)

Almost everybody on our trip were return guests and we were told at the welcome dinner when they hander out the Insider pins that we would get the previous ones. It's not a big deal if we don't.

Yes, but if they say they are going to do it, they should do it. Nobody likes a company that doesn't stand by their word.

How disappointing! I wonder if you could call them and get them to load your remaining photos to the cloud...

I think a lot of people were thinking as you were, which is why ABD switched. But I wish they would figure out a way to include the slideshow.

I got a response to my request to have access to our photos on the cloud today. Unfortunately, it's the same photos that were on the CD. Still no photo of me and my son at the guard house. Still the big gaps throughout the trip and no photos for the last day and half of the trip. I'm sure the guides took more photos, but maybe something went wrong with whatever process they use to get them from the guides to the CDs (or cloud). The website is nice, but I would rather wait for the photo CD than give up the farewell dinner video. Even though it didn't really help, I appreciate that I finally got a response to one of my emails and they made an attempt to help.

Ack. So sorry about that. It would be nice if they'd actually just admit that something went wrong, but I guess that's probably asking for too much. But I'm with you. I'd much rather wait for the CD & still get the slideshow, too.

I think you mis-read carpenta's statement. Without any current direct experience, carpenta confirmed that pins were, indeed, given out in the past. I just went on an ABD and they definitely *are* still giving out the pins of the day!

Regarding the backpacks, I thought the little brown messenger bags are cute...but a little small. We also got 2 pillow/blankets this year (I guess I ordered those in lieu of 2 more backpacks way back when...) - those are not my favorite...

None of those options are available any more. Everyone gets the new green ripstop nylon backpacks. They are one large, long compartment, and designed to pack up really small into a pocket of the backpack. It's nice that they are easy to pack, and I kind of like the material, but they are not very useful, except as something like a beach bag.

We received our "box" a couple weeks ago and it contained 1 brown zip computer bag, 1 blue blanket for travel, and 1 blue backpack all with ABD logos. Also the small info booklet and the tip envelopes. All were welcome in this family. The backpack will probably end up on the backpack stack in a closet that is starting to resemble the stacked mattresses found in "The Princess and the Pea" fairytale.
