Did anyone get a prenatal massage done?

I've had one massage in my life (DH and I spent the afternoon before our 8pm wedding in a spa!) and DH got me a certificate for a prenatal one, and the appointment is tomorrow.

just wondering how different it will be. It's making me nervous, but the guy is really nice and said he's worked with many pregnant ladies before and it's a great way to relax and he can teach me a few techniques he learned through his prenatal certification courses.

Just curious if anyone else has or plans to?
I was just talking to DH about this last night. I think he'll get me one for my birthday (April 6th).

How far along was everyone that had one?

Hi everyone! Just dropping by to let you all know that I gave birth to my daughter yesterday morning. On Tuesday I went in for my weekly OB appointment and my blood pressure was high. Despite having it checked 3 times after laying on the exam table, it would not go down. They also found protein in my urine. My doctor told me to go to L&D triage and have them check me out, but told me to expect to be induced. She figured since I was 38.5 weeks, there was no sense in waiting for me to get sicker, I might as well deliver. I agreed; my mom and sister both had complications related to high BP, so having pre-eclampsia was something I was sort of expecting. I'm just glad I didn't have to go on bedrest; I wanted to spend all my available leave with my daughter, not staring at cracks in the ceiling.

In a nutshell, I was admitted that afternoon and induced a bit before 6pm Tuesday, got an epidural a little while later, and at 7:04am, Lydia Katharine made her debut! Lydia shares her birthday with her great-grandmother, who turned 90 yesterday (my paternal grandmother). She weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces, is 20 inches long and is a perfectly normal and healthy little baby girl! Hooray! :cool1: :woohoo: :cheer2:

:cheer2: Welcome Lydia Katharine :cheer2: Great news!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm obviously 24 weeks. But he said I can come back anytime I want for another, all the way up to the last month, to give myself a little break! :thumbsup2

I used it this soon because I just wanted to take a day off out of work. My horomones are starting to lack the ability to tolerate one of my coworkers... There are three of us trained as tellers (other than management, who aren't really SUPPOSED to be tellers, but can be) and she told the Asst. manager she wasn't working more than 25 hours a week (our salary, but we can work over for an hourly wage) while I'm on maternity leave (12 weeks)-- not even for the other girl to go on a vacation she's been planning since before I got pregnant.
THEN guess what week she requested for vacation? (After having said month after month after month that she had NO plans!)
The week I'm due! :headache:  The assistant manager is freaking out and I'm starting to feel bad.. and getting madder and madder at this girl for being such a witch.. :sad2:

It'll all work out and I'm sure I won't care but right now, while we're doing vacation schedules, it's very tense around there.

....I also went shopping today and got a TON of little boys stuff 18months and up at Pennys for $3.97 each-- including an adorable navy blue pullover hoodie that has orange, red, yellow, green and light blue mickey mouse faces all over it. Too cute! I love sales!

Mendy, do you think that facebook status will do the trick??? :rotfl:

welcome lydia - what a BEAUTIFUL name for a little girl! love it!

have a great weekend everyone ;)

our photographer is coming in the am to do Tessa's newborn pics and we are doing Bel's 4th bday party that afternoon at the gymnastics center ... not a lotta time for romance:lmao:
my husband asked me on the phone if we were "doing" valentines day ... i said yes, i already gave you a beautiful baby girl - other than that a hug and kiss will have to do:lovestruc he is so happy to be off the hook:banana:

tessa is way beyone huge - had her 2 week check today and she is gaining weight like mad...has a blocked tear duct that is super yucky, but nothing they can do.

have any of your kids had this? they said they give it a YEAR to clear up. i hope we can get it better sooner...it is gunky a lot of the time and i feel so bad for her, it cannot be comfortable and i am sure it hurts when we wipe it out all the time!

Wow I'm out of the loop for a week and two new baby girls!!!

We went to IL last week to visit SIL and as we were walking into her house the first night my DS fell on the ice and I went down with him, great way to start a trip. I didn't really hurt myself but it did make me nervous. I got an ultrasound when I got home, and thankfully everything was fine. I was hoping since I was 17 weeks I could find out the sex but the baby was not showing anything off but was bouncing around like crazy (it figures the one time I break down and get a latte I go for an ultrasound)

Luca developed this the day we went to the doctor. He said to massage the inner part of the eye at various times during the day....that it would help unblock the tear duct. Strangely enough, it was pretty much gone the next day, so I can't tell you for sure whether or not this works.

No direct experience, but I have heard if it's very junky, you can squirt a drop of breastmilk in there & rub that in a little. I know, I know, it sounds odd, but was reported to help. Other uses for breastmilk.... helps to heal a burn. I know that one works. :)

The reasons for going so early for the 4D ultra sound are 1. to determine gender, they say they can tell as early as 13 weeks 2. I just want to see my little Acorn, every time we have had an ultra sound (3) I have had to pee so badly that it was painful, I was miserable and did not get to see him too well while my husband stood over the techs shoulder watching him and we never got any photos 3. I am a worrier so I don't want to wait 8 more weeks to see him and check on him.

For gender determination and photos they are having a special for $85! I think it is so worth it to find out the sex early.

Update: I am on pelvic rest and no lifting or strenuous activities/exercise etc. until further notice after seeing my doctor on Monday. Poor hubby. I am only working for three more weeks and then I will be taking it easy! We are going to Disney in two weeks and I will have to use a wheel chair and do a lot of relaxing at the resort which is fine by me, 3 days off will be heaven.

1 week and 3 days until the second trimester:banana:

Skylarr29 the 2nd trimester is soooo much better. First off, a lot of fears are eased up. Not to mention, your energy will be back:thumbsup2

I picked up the bedding yesterday. It is soooo cute. Saturday we are going to buy the crib and changing table/dresser and a glider. I can't wait to get her room all set up.:cloud9:

Mendy, do you think that facebook status will do the trick??? :rotfl:

He asked me tonight if I knew you, and I told him you were from the DIS. He asked if you were on Mafia Wars (we've become addicted to it on facebook!) and I had to fess up that we were hoping that you could encourage him to get me another massage! ;) He said "I already got you one with Madeline! " :scared1: Actually I think maybe he might get me one before this baby comes-he just likes to yank my chain!
Thank you!

No problem!

What a poophead, though, messing with you like that!! ;)

(Sorry, poophead is my new favorite word! :rotfl:)

Someone sent me this link to *predict* things about the baby and the day they will be born.
http://pregnancyandbaby.com/pregnancy/baby/Madame-Zaritska-predicts-your-birth-experience-1.php

This is what I got!
"The day you deliver, outside will be sunny. Your baby will arrive in the late night. After a labor lasting approximately 6 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and will be 21 -1/2 inches long. This child will have medium green eyes and some auburn hair."

It predicted boy! (And it's usually pretty sunny in June ;) )
Just thought it was neat!

The day you deliver, outside will be stormy. Your baby will arrive in the early evening. After a labor lasting approximately 44 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 5 pounds, 12 ounces, and will be 21 -1/2 inches long. This child will have medium violet eyes and curly auburn hair.

Well the girl part is right. My DS was 8lbs 6ozs 8 day's early. Ha at the 44 hours of labor, I will do my repeat section way before that.

Madame Zaritska, using her mystical powers, has the following prediction:

The day you deliver, outside will be warm. Your baby will arrive in the mid morning. After a labor lasting approximately 15 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 13 ounces, and will be 19,19-1/2 inches long. This child will have dark brown eyes and fluffy auburn hair.

This has me scratching my head saying wow!! She said a girl. My DS has huge dark eyes and a ton of hair. June is definitely warm. Very interesting, thanks for posting Piecey.

The day you deliver, outside will be light. Your baby will arrive in the late afternoon. After a labor lasting approximately 18 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 6 pounds, 11 ounces, and will be 17 inches long. This child will have light blue eyes and a little patch of auburn hair.

I would rather not have labor of 18 hours but I guess that beats caitty13's 44 hours! :scared1: (I hope its not right for your sake!)

And whats up with all the auburn colored hair?

No problem!

I would be more :scared1: SCARED by the weight prediction!!!

My Madam Zaritska prediction:
The day you deliver, outside will be foggy. Your baby will arrive in the late afternoon. After a labor lasting approximately 24 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 4 pounds, 2 ounces, and will be 17-1/2 inches long. This child will have medium violet eyes and some black hair.

Ummmmm, I'm expecting twins....... and umm what's up with the person that got her child would be 15 pounds???!!?!? That is scary.

Okay. Some people are either going to have huge babies and the rest of the us are going to have AUBURN haired babies!! :rotfl:

Still kinda neat to do, though.
