I wish so much I had a room to make into a nursery:guilty: Dd9 has an all princess room, and she told me yesterday she is too old for it:sad2: I'd love to have a room to fix up in an "older" theme for her, and keep all the princess stuff for the baby. It just isn't going to happen, though.

Thanks for the responses to far!! I appreciate it.

I am 30 and DH is 33. I read the book TCOYF back when TTC DS in 2006 and started charting then. I have been charting and visiting their forums as obsessively as the DIS since October of this year. I should never have gone back on BCP's after DS was born but at that point I wasn't even sure of a second one!

One of our major problems is that with DS, DH's work schedule and just general life we do not take the time nor get the time to 'enjoy' each other on a regular basis. It makes the TTC that much more of a focus/job!
I hear that!! My husband works nights, and for a while he was doing 7 days a week!! Plus having my three yo home all day?? Yeah. We had no time for boom-boom. :lmao: Thank Goodness for Playhouse Disney. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I know, me too. Our babies are going straight into my room. Our "nursery" consists of sidecarring a crib onto our bed, and a dresser.

Bummer for those without nurseries.

I guess with this being my first, it's pretty easy to squeeze him in. If we were staying where we are now, though, it'd be difficult. Our "spare" room is a MESS and would never be able to accomodate a baby.

And the nursery in the house we just bought isn't much of a nursery to get excited about. :( (Too many projects to get it done! GRR!)

I can't figure out what to do with it either, but I guess thats okay.. it doesn't look like I'll really have time to do anything too exciting.

Staley- your daughter still following you around, making sure you don't flush away little Vincent or Jasmine?

Anybody wanna post pictures of their nurseries?? I love pictures. :rotfl:

My nursery consists of a pack n play at the foot of our bed! I am looking for dd9 a new chest for her room, and we'll move hers into our room (it is really small-and painted princess pink of course).

Ours too! But we have space to remodel eventually. I just don't want to do it while pregnant because somehow, I'm quite sure remodeling will mess with our plumbing even if it's not supposed to-because that's the kind of luck that I have. And I just can't be pregnant without flushing toilets in the house. ;)

YES! She totally is. :lmao: She is so crazy. I think she is sensing that we are getting really close. She has been REALLY attached to me lately.

Thats too cute!

...and I know what you mean about the flushing toilet thing.. MelissaG.
Our other house had the water turned off to redo the upstairs bathroom and I told DH's cousin, who was doing the remodel, he better hurry up and finish because I couldn't take anymore days without a toilet!

My thought is that the baby won't really need its own room for the first several months anyway, and I would much rather remodel when I'm not pregnant. I know my limits.

Oh, I agree.
DH and I were looking for a house when we found out I was pregnant-- that just sped things up. The house we got was a steal, but needed work. We've got a million projects going on and I sooo wish I didn't have to deal with all that mess right now but there isn't a lot I can do about it.
We need to get in there ASAP, it's starting to hurt to carry two sets of everything. (We paid $450 in gas for January alone  ) and then renovations NEED done.

I hired a contractor today.. it's just too much for DH and I to do on top of work and school.

I'm waiting on Lowe's to get our carpet in so that it can be installed.. and then we can start moving furniture. I'm crossing my fingers it happens SOON!

I know what you mean about speeding things up. We bought this house three years ago knowing we wanted to remodel it, but until I found out we were pregnant, I just didn't have the motivation. We are definitely hiring a contractor when we do it. I'll have five kids by then and while DH has the skills to do it himself, he is too much of a procrastinator to actually stay on task. (We moved in 3 years ago, we fenced it last summer.) I hope yours gets done soon too!

Thats why we're trying to do most of it before we move in! (And my DH doesn't really have the skills, either)

So far I still need to call a professional floor dude to refinish the hardwoods in the dining room/living room and get my BIL (a concrete mason) to remove the old gas fireplace fixtures and concrete in the fireplace (chimney is caving and that is NOT an expense I care to get into to try to fix and make it a working fireplace!) and then the downstairs, after the contractor, is DONE!
After the carpet and some paint, we're done upstairs. Then we can move in. Other little projects will follow.. but these were all "before we move in" projects.
I just figure it's a LOT easier to have people in/out of the house redoing floors and ductwork when there isn't any furniture to worry about.

Luckily, DH has a cousin that is a contractor (redid our upstairs bathroom completely, plumbing included) and an uncle that is an electrician (has grounded all the outlets downstairs, put a few in the basement which didn't have any before and put lights in dark corners of the basement- no longer scary! Also cleaned up a lot of old knob and tube that was scary looking)
In the fall, he's going to up the electrical service from 100amp to 200amp.
Such a savings having tradesmen in the family!
I think he's installing the new water heater next week.

I love that while DH isn't handy, he's got people that are! I'd estimate his uncle has saved us 4-5k easy with all the work he's done for the cost of supplies and lunch!

We plan to move before we have another child. We'll be pretty maxed out with one. So the economy had better turn around so we can at least get back what we paid for our house!

I'm lucky that I have a DH and a SIL who are teachers and will do a lot of the heaving lifting for me for the nursery. Hopefully they'll have at 6 weeks to get everything set. We're going to have the showers the week DH gets out of school, so we'll get all the stuff and he can get to work. Hopefully we can have things painted by then. It seems so overwhelming right now.

I know exactly what you mean by the bolded statement. I've walked in our house a few times and broke down into tears from the drywall/paint cans/electrical wire/joint compound EVERYWHERE! :rotfl: DH frequently finds me in my nursery quite depressed. :rolleyes1

This house is big enough for #2 (3 bedrooms, lots of storage!) but we're not sure when/if #2 is coming. At least when/if they do the house won't be such a mess!

You're cutting it down to 6 weeks? I don't know if your nesting instincts will allow that.. but then again, I'm a freak when it comes to planning and I know I wouldn't have made it. Then again, you probably don't have to rebuild an entire nursery wall to support a crumbling chimney either... :rotfl:

Totally lucky about the teacher thing-- and being due in the summer! Your DH will have lots of time to get things accomplished! The only thing I have to get excited about is the semester ending in May.

(Sorry, I really ramble a lot. :upsidedow And I should be taking a test. :rolleyes1 )

:cheer2: Welcome to our two new Moms to be !!!! :cheer2:

Boy chatty on here today.

We had no problem conceiving. DS was a honeymoon souvenier. And with this pregnancy I messed up my pills just a bit and the end results was a wonderful surprise.

DD is going to go into DS existing nursery which is pale yellow with CoCalo Alphabet Soup bedding. Here is a pic.... http://www.babysupermall.com/main/products/coc/coc711033.html
DS is graduuating into a bigger bedroom which has to be done over with a new big boy bed. So we have a nursery but DS needs a new room now.

Natalie is very pretty for a name but I am partial to ANN for a middle!!!

:goodvibes Ann

Hi All! Welcome to the new posters!

I went for my growth ultrasound today. Bean is measuring 6lbs,6oz. 65th percentile and is measuring at 36w5d. Big Boy. I have another appointment tomorrow for a BPP and NST and my first internal since my first pg visit. The doctor does not want me to go past 39w2days so I am getting kind of anxious. I have to was some baby clothes tomorrow.

***********
As far as the question how long it took to get pg...I guess my situation is a bit different. I have a hyperactive thyroid and my hormones were off for a while...We started trying in November 2007, I had 2 miscarriages and finally keep a pregnancy in June 2008...as soon as my hormone levels were adjusted by medication.

I also took the advice of a friend who suffered a couple misscarriages (this is probably an old wives tale but her doctor gave her this advice) and took a woman's multi vitamin (not a prenatal), 400 mcg of folic acid and 1 large glass of orange juice a day and that is when I became pregnant this time. After I went to the doctor (at 8 weeks) I then switched to prenatals.

***********
I hope everyone is doing well...Have a great night!

I can't wait to hope on here and join you guys sometime. Maybe this month is our month!!

We live in apartments still due to DH's job and have moved twice since DS was born already! He's 21 months!! I did do a nursery for him and just moved the stuff and re-hung it each time we have moved. I have not painted any walls for him though.

Depending on when #2 decided to come along we will have moved AGAIN, hopefully out of state with a new job oppurtunity in the coming months. I will do the nursery as best I can but we are hoping to buy a house within the next 2 years max. I always said that I don't want to have a second child until we live in our own house so I can do a full out nursery for the baby. However, I REFUSE to put our family growth/happiness and whatnot on the line for DH's stupid company. He has finally decided to leave so at least now we will be able to settle down somewhere!!!

Congrats everyone ... you don't mind if I stalk you guys, do you?

Well 6 weeks for anything we get at the showers. Our biggest issues are cleaning out the room and getting the paint/mural done. The room is currently housing our computer and its ginormous desk. The desk came with the house, because the previous owner didn't want to move it--it's HUGE.
Congrats everyone ... you don't mind if I stalk you guys, do you?

No way! Maybe we'll rub off on ya!

Not at all-and I hope you are expecting soon!

The house we live in is part of dh's job. He is park director, and we live in the city park. The house is small-1400 sq ft 3 bedroom-but nice (and free). The kids' rooms are really little though, so I don't know what we'll do after the baby outgrows our room. Each kid has a single bed, night stand, chest, and desk. Nothing else will fit. Even if the rooms were bigger, pairing a baby with a 9 yr old doesn't sound like a great idea (our son is 11). But in this economy, we'll do what we have to.

We got pregnant on cycle #2. Never thought it would happen that quickly, but lo and behold. Someone close to me has been trying for #2 for well over a year now, so you just never know.
