Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

Lisa - HUGS ... I'll keep you and the baby in my thoughts. My DS was estimated to be over 9.5lbs and came out 4 days late at 8lbs 13oz. He was a c-section baby because my hips are too narrow (go figured, it's the only narrow part of me apparently!!) Those estimates are crazy off most of the time!!

That's a great time of year to have a baby--you don't have to worry about snow or ice storms and it won't be too hot when you're full term. :thumbsup2

Hearing the heart beating for the first time is amazing.

I'm sure Lisa will go first! :rotfl: As long as she's not a Friday the 13th baby, that's fine with me. My family has informed me that 2/18 is the optimum date, to squeeze in with other family who have birthdays this month.

I'm just glad my body has started to do its thing and get ready for birth. I've read stories of women who weren't dilated at all when contractions began/when the water broke and it took hours just to dilate the first few centimeters. :scared:

Some people think that being born on Friday the 13th is lucky. My DH was born on a Friday the 13th and got to marry me, so there must be some truth to that :rotfl2:

Lisa-you are in my prayers about all this. I hope that the weight they estimated is off and is actually lower. I'm sure its all weighing heavy emotionally though.

Speaking of C-Sections...have any of you prior Moms had one?
I am just curious how long you were laid up after? I would think that would be hard with other children adn a baby. Just want to have an idea or what to expect if it comes up down the line.

Hey guys. My appointment was for 5PM today, but they got me in early at 1PM.

Got some pretty bad news...he's measuring over 10 lbs and my doctor really wants me to get a c-section. We talked it over for a long time and I'm going to try induction first and see what happens...with the knowledge that if at any point she thinks something is wrong, I have to go in for an immediate c/s.

Unfortunately his belly is measuring bigger than his head, so she's worried about shoulder dystocia or worse. They panic a little more with me because I've already lost a child.

So, I go in Thursday morning at 7 AM and we will see what happens. (Thursday, because that is the first date my doctor is available and if there is going to be a problem, then I definitely want her to deliver me).

Feeling a little stressed....as if I wasn't before :thumbsup2

Lisa :grouphug: , of course you are stressed. I agree with what others have already said here about those scans being off by as much as a pound. I will be thinking of you all day Thursday, and have my fingers crossed for you starting today!

Ok...so I got a call from my OB's office. I think I may have flunked my glucose 3 hour after all.

I got a message that they needed to talk to me, but nothing that would warrant an overnight call. I had glucose on Friday and receptionist said it hadn't been read but looks like I'd passed ?. Wondering if it was close or what. But I haven't had anything else and when I had labs that were negative, they left message saying so.

UGH..I hate when you get these calls at 4:15 in the afternoon and the office closes at 4:30, at least I don't have to wait an entire weekend.

Oh poo!! Thats no good! I hope it turns out okay!

I have had 2 sections and this will be another scheduled csection. My oldest I had 3 inductions and went from 1 to 1.5 centimeters. then they did an ultrasound and saw him at 9 1/2 lbs. Went for csection from there for "failure to progress" & the big baby. 2nd was a scheduled csection due to failure to progess w/1st...good thing he was 11lbs. This one will be a scheduled c section.

I was pretty sore in the hospital and when I came home. I was comfortable enough to drive at 2 weeks. I wasn't having anymore pain. I want to say, it was probalby a week or so for me. I don't like taking pain meds, they really don't do much for me. I had them if I needed them.

Everyone and every experience is different.

I was wondering this too.

:goodvibes I know you said before, but my mind is spacing...How big was your first when he came out?

How was recovery with kid/s at home?

My 1st was 9 lbs 8.5 oz, 2nd 11lbs even...3rd, I'm not breaking my prior record, believe me!!

I was lucky I had help at home both times. Hubby works while I'm recouping in hospital and comes and visits at night. then he takes a week off work. My grandparents stayed out when my oldest was born and my mom when my 2nd, to help out. I kept my oldest in school as he was in a private K program. This time, my 2 year old will be home, my oldest is in 1st grade and depending on when I go, he could be home on vacation or at school.

It could be why I recouped quickly I wasn't pushing myself...I took the help.

With DS they were going to do an emergancy C-section if I could not get him out asap. I had spiked a fever during delivery and they were worried about that having an impact on the baby. Fortunately, I got him out in time with some help from the forceps.

I just can't imagine being laid up. My 2 year old requires alot of attention from me and dealing with a new baby. DH gets a little nervous with new borns and he works two jobs so alot falls on me with the kids.

I know.. Im terrified that I might have to have a C-section. We have very little help. Just my mom watching the older two while I am in the hospital. Dh will take a week off when the babies come, and he works nights.. So it is just me. And 4 kids!:faint: My mom keeps saying.. you better not have one! Blah, blah, blah.. Like I can help it! :sad2:

Lisa- I will say a little prayer for you and your baby. Hope all goes well will you on Thursday.

My parents are the closest to DS but DF (80) and DM (73). DS is probably going to be with them while I am in labor but I do not want to expect more from them.

I have SILs to help but my DS does not see them often and I do not know how he would be for them.

Fingers crossed for a regular delivery.

That happened with my oldest DD as well. Fortunately, forcepts helped us too. I'm still scared of a c-section, and can't imagine bringing a baby home with the chaos that already exists in this house-much less if I needed to recover from surgery as well. Here's hoping the best for all of us.

See... the fear you all have of C-Sections and recovery time is exactly the reason I think this gallbladder surgery needs to happen ASAP.

They said if the surgeon won't do it while I'm pregnant, it's going to need to be done ASAP when I give birth.
But then who takes care of the baby?
I don't have anyone. And they said gallbladder surgery takes awhile to recover so.... what happens when I can't even change his diaper for a week??
We'll see.. I meet with the surgeon tomorrow. I better get baking those cookies!!

...DH and I decided, officially, today.. that I will not be going back to work. Woohoo! I'm ecstatic. He said I could quit now if I wanted but I think it'd be stupid not to work out the next 17 weeks and get the 12 weeks paid maternity after Luke gets here.
Not to mention, of those 17 weeks I've got 3 weeks paid time off for the year to use... Hehe.

Tell us what the surgeon says! And woo hoo! about not going back to work. I plan on leaving my job once this baby comes as well, but I do want to work as for up to delivery as possible for the extra $$.

I had mine out when Mikalah was two months old, and its wasnt so bad. It was laproscopic, and the recovery was very short. I only spent the night in the hospital because my surgery was so late in the day. Otherwise I would have gone home that day. I was up walking around holding her in a day or so.

Awesome about staying home! :thumbsup2 I would stay too.. If you are going to get the time off paid and all. They arent going to want it back if you dont go back to work, are they?

WooHoo:cool1: that is great news for both you and the baby. I love being a SAHM, I have such a close relationship with my son.

When I carried my Luke I work up until the day before I delivered. I gave my two week notice two weeks before my workmans comp ended. You worked for them long enough to get what you deserved out of the system, get the workmans comp you paid into.

TrueDisneyFan: Congratulations and welcome Noah!!!

Lisa, Wishing you the best. I am sure all will be fine since you and your doctor have a plan of action. :grouphug:

***********
I went for several appointments today...I have been going twice a week for BPPs and NSTs and so far everything has been great. My doctor does not want me to go past 39w2d so if I do not go naturally, he is going to induce me so I will be at least a week early. :cool1:

I go for another growth ultrasound on Monday so we'll see how big he is now.

I am getting pretty incomfortable...backache, braxton hicks and some minor cramping.

Wishing everyone the best!!!
