Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

Thanks guys! I hate to complain, but it was really, really rough. I forgot to mention I got yet another cold sore cluster (I never get just one) and an ear infection.

The ear is still really bugging me--it crackles and feels like it has water in it and generally makes me more clumsy and dizzy than normal (which is saying something!lol)
But other than that I'm doing well. I have my first baby storytime of the new session tonight, and I'm just praying my m/s leaves me alone.

Harleyquinn, I hope you are on the mend and don't catch anything else!

Dh and dd9 were sick this weekend, but we all made it to work and school today thank goodness. I've used all my sick days, and my check will already be cut half a day this month. Next month it will be cut at least one, and every month after that, for dr's appts.

Dh loves my big belly! He is so weird-he can't wait for my belly button to pop out. Ever since I was pregnant with ds11, he thinks pregnant women are the sexiest creatures on earth! :joker:

My husband is the same way!!! My belly button is OUT when I stand up, and he like to rub it. Creepy ole thing. :rotfl2: But he is always rubbing my belly and looking at me like this..  I feel like a big fat cow, but he says Im so beautiful.. all making his babies and such.

DH is starting to act the same way. He keeps rubbing my belly and giving me these extra kisses. Kisses my belly on occassion.

Weirding me out.

On my way out this morning he pecked my cheek, smacked my booty and said "Take care of my boy.":confused3

Nothing makes a guy feel quite as manly as knocking up the little wifey. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: When I was pregnant with Mikalah he used to watch me make dinner... Oh yeah! Barefoot, pregnant AND cooking my dinner!! Thats how I like it!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: DORK!

My DH is the same way and my belly really isn't a baby belly yet. He drives me nuts talking to the belly and trying to rub it. But I've been so sick, I really don't want him anywhere near me! :(

His newest thing is to make the heartbeat monitor noise (woo-woo, woo-woo) at my belly like he's speaking the baby's special language or something! :teeth: It's really funny...

DH's are strange creatures.

I can't get DH to come anywhere near the kitchen. Sometimes I just want company but he knows I put him to work (load/unload the dishwasher, slice this, stir that, etc) that he runs away ASAP. :(

I would also like to add that people who told me my energy would come back during my second trimester lied through their teeth. I feel like crap.
He also kicks the crap out of me when I lay down at night and I can't get to sleep for a good hour or two. I foresee this only getting worse.

My HR department called me today to tell me I can receive my 12 weeks of paid maternity in a lump sum or in 3 equal installments. Seems bizarre that they change the way they pay you... but think of the diapers and formula I could stock up on with 3 months pay in one blast?? Muahaha.

Registry Question...

My mom told me to go ahead and start a registry so that people who want to mail her gifts (her sisters out of town) can in time for my shower.
I told her I was going to do Toys R Us and she said she'd like me to pick someplace a bit cheaper too. I told her my reasoning behind Toys R Us is that is where my car seat/stroller are and it's local and the 10% off anything not purchased.
She still asked me to do two because she personally hated TRU registries.

Is it not a bit tacky to have two registries? Or should I just register for the basic stuff through Wal*Mart and do the TRU registry so people buying bigger gifts (my Aunts, my mom, etc) can go together if they want and if not, I can go buy it... but put the Wal*Mart on the invitations and the TRU stuff only to those that ask her?

I don't know.. just seems a little tacky to register 2 places to me, but what do you guys think??
(Basic stuff like Johnson's gift sets, Baby First Aid kits, etc. aren't tacky to register for, right?)

My husband has taken over kitchen duty.. Almost this whole pregnancy he has been doing the cooking and cleaning in there. I sit in a chair and dictate my recipes to him. Now THAT is how to make dinner!:rotfl2:

Yeah.. I never got that either. and yes.. Your baby will get bigger and stronger, and the kicking will get worse and worse!

How odd! But it would buy a lot of baby gear!

I don't think two places is tacky. It gives people a choice. Just don't put the same things on at each place. Remember pick out what you really want don't settle for other people. I would mix the prices at BRU you will get some people who want to buy you a $40 item and others a $200 item.

FYI, BRU price matches sale flyers from other stores.

Also, I registered at Target and hated their return policy without a receipt.

Oh man, I WISH! My DH seriously can't even boil water.
I forget what he was doing but I asked him once to start rice... (boil-in-bag kind) and I come home and he had it sitting in 2" of water. I was like "Uh, how is that supposed to cook?"
"It says to put the bag in the water, thats what I did"
"But the rice has to actually be UNDER the water, honey."
"Oh. Well. I didn't think it looked right!" :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

DH had his hand on my tummy for awhile last night and said "Yay, he can be the kicker for the football team."
I was like.. "yeah..." :crazy2:

I thought so too.. but at least now we can plan on having funds to load up!!
The HR lady was telling me how they don't advise taking the lump sum because it could have tax consequences (getting paid 3 months, 2 of which should be in another year, b/c it boosts your income for that year)
I said... "I'm due in June."
"Well nevermind then, sweetie." :confused3

Thanks.. I guess I'll pick basic stuff (like the bath kits, etc) at whichever is cheaper but maybe throw a few in TRU (we don't have a BRU or a Target here!) to get a few cheaper things on there and other than that, whatever I like the most.

Guess mom won this battle. :thumbsup2

Trust me.. I KNOW how that goes. I had to teach my husband how to make top ramen. Now he can make simple stuff... enough so the kids dont starve anyways. :lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I have left my husband home alone with the kids twice. once when my dad died, and I had no warning.. So they ate at his moms house every night. Which was convenient.. she was watching the kids while he worked. Then I went to Disneyland with some friends.. I had the freezer stocked full of meals he could just pop in the oven. plus frozen pizzas and hot dogs. :rotfl2:

Good plan, good plan.

I'm going to teach this little kiddo to cook ASAP.
If not, one of my friends lives a few blocks down the road and I'll give her a heads up that my kid might need fed! :rotfl:

I am very fortunate that DH does almost everything lately. He has been cooking for the most part since I got pregnant since the smell of everything made me sick. Thankfully my DH loves cooking and he is better at it than me :) He helps clean up and does more than half the laundry. Between him and my boys I really haven't done much of anything. I haven't cleaned the bathroom in months, he puts his rubber gloves on and actually does a really great job cleaning up. Maybe I should think about having another one or two after this....

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I know, huh? When we found out we were expecting twins.. we got home from the doctors office and he said.. On the couch with your feet up! You arent doing anything until the babies are born! Who am i to argue? :rolleyes1 Its gonna blow when the babies come and I am back to my normal schedule.

My DH has always done most of the cooking. I hate to cook and he knew that before he married me! I do a lot of baking and I make killer breakfast foods. I also make any kind of pasta we have.

DH has reluctantly took over a bunch of my chores. The biggest probably being the dishwasher. I just couldn't handle the smell. And now he has to do most of the laundry, which he HATES.

My friend let him borrow My Guys Can Swim! and he's been laughing and reading it to me. He's so cute...like a little puppy.

Saw this on icanhascheezburger and had to share:

Ok, tonight I am in a "I could eat everything in the house mood!"
How about the rest of you?

I'm counting the minutes before my nightly m/s hits. Maybe I'll get lucky and it won't.

On a related note, the days I didn't have any m/s symptoms, I've had to force myself to eat cuz nothing sounds good. It's sooooo annoying.

So far I've lost 22 pounds and counting.
