................oh it WOULD happen within the next three weeks wouldn't it?
I don't know what it is with me and strikes (do I attract discontent that much?? ) I was kept on edge in 2001 by the fuel protests.

Any ideas as to what would happen if the strikes were on my departure date??(With Excel airlines being a chartered service I wouldn't bet on them hanging around for a day or so). I'll have to delve into the small print tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath for a "If the staff at your airport strike........." section.......... don't want to be stranded in sunny Newcastle.

I think I'll pay their increased wages... :rotfl:

Positive thoughts:  they won't strike when I leave,
they won't strike when I leave,
they won't strike when I leave, ::yes::

blimey we must be related !! this stuff happens to me all the time :guilty:
fingers crossed they wait till you leave :grouphug:

ps the small print IS that small im sure they will fit that in :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh Sean :(

Positive thoughts for you :)

Keeping everything crossed for you. :) We are flying from there too so I hope they get themselves sorted out soon. Why can't airline people negotiate pay rises with their staff before peak travelling starts? It is always this time of the year or bang on holiday weeks disruption starts.

I know how you feel :guilty:

Just the mention of a proposed strike is enough to strike terror  With me I think it was the baggage handlers strike that got averted or something.

Please don't strike, please don't strike SplashMtn has a holiday to go on!

Throwing some pixie dust your way :( !
(and hoping it doesn't happen when I'm going!)

Oh No...:( think postive thoughts.

from: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/4114812.stm

"On Tuesday it was announced there will be a 48-hour strike from 30 June, two one-day ones on 11 and 16 July and a further 48-hour strike on 23 July."

So, at the moment, no strikes when I depart  but I hope the disruption for everyone else is kept to a minimum- thankfully it says that it won't be a full walkout and that contingency plans are in place. :)

We fly on 16th July or should I say were going to fly. Please keep your fingers crossed that it gets resolved before then. :sad2:

This is purely guess work, but I would think that your flight should be fine; "only" 120 of 300 airside staff are striking so I would imagine that the biggest flight of the day (i.e. to Orlando) should be covered or favoured in terms of attention or numbers by the remaining staff.

Hoping that the two sides can agree a deal before then anyway. :wizard:

Thanks Sean. It is actually 180 out of the 300 striking with 120 left working which I hope will be enough. The flight is an early one 8.20 so I am hoping if they do strike we will one of the first to fly out when we can.

Still if it happens it happens not much point in worrying about it because I cannot change it. :)

Are you flying from Newcastle too or are you travelling down to Manchester? Hope you have a good time in any case.

I'm flying from Newcastle with Excel. Wow, what a brilliant flight time you've got- being so early. My departure time is 11.10am; still better than the afternoon flight times of previous trips (more time with the Mouse!!) ::MickeyMo
