DH, me, DD3, MIL, FIL travelling next month. We booked 2 Bedroom Villa SSR via AAA vacations (we are not DVC owners). Made requests (via AAA Vacations): non-smoking room in the Springs Sections.

This is our first time staying in DVC resorts - my flight arounds MCO at 1:00pm. If we arrives SSR at 2:00pm, can we still check in (even room is not yet ready)? I've read that rooms may not be ready until 4:00pm - but I wonder if I can get my Resort ID (i.e. theme park entry, Dining Plan) first so that we can get off to parks.

Would we be able to "secure" our requests at the time of such early check-in?

There was a scenario that we were at Tokyo DisneySea Resort. Our rooms were not ready but they assigned us our Room numbers upon arrival. All we have to do is to pick up the keys from Front Desk when we return from the park.

Yep, you can still check in and take advantage of your dining plan. They will give you a number to call to see if the room is ready.
Not sure about picking one ahead of time though.

The Keys to the Kingdom card they will give you at check out are your dining plan, room charge, park tickets, and room key in one. If your room is not ready, you still get the key when you check in - you'll just call to find out the room number.

We arrived on Fri 11/24 around 1pm and our room wasn't ready yet, they gave us our room key which included dining and park entrance. We left them a cellphone number and they left a message on my voicemail with the room number. When we got back to the resort, we headed straight to our room. We were at the Boardwalk and had used Magical Express, so when we arrived at our room our luggage was there too.

Thanks!

So, regarding our room requests - should we check-in as early as possible (the higher the chances to get our requests), or it doesn't matters?

We decided not to visit parks on the 1st day - so either we try to check-in early (1:30pm) and then walk around DTD; or we will wander in Florida Mall for a few hours before heading to SSR.

We are Canadians - will they call our cell phone (long distance)? Is there any number to call them and check if our rooms are ready?

I've had good luck checking in between 11-2 - that gives previous guests a chance to check-out. You'll be given a number to call, they don't call you.

Definitely head to DTD instead of a mall. :thumbsup2

Sorry, after talking to MIL - I have a few more questions -

1). Can we park our rental car somewhere close to the main lobby during check-in process, then drive our car and park at our building?
2). Upon early check-in, I assume even Room is not ready, they will give us everything else we need (e.g. Parking Permit)?
3). Are iron (& iron board) available in room (2 BR Villa), or I have to request via mousekeeping?
4). Does the food court in SSR allow take-out?

many thanks :-)

1. Yes, and you can walk, boat or bus to DTD if you want to leave your car.
2. Yes, and your room keys will be activated to accept charges.
3. Yes, they are already provided.
4. Yes.

Have a great trip!

Thanks starbox (& thanks again and again for the most recent reply - you are so quick) :thumbsup2 We will then head directly from MCO to see if we are lucky enough.

Just curious (I know there is no guarantee) - usually when will the rooms be ready? 4:00pm? later? Just make a contingency plan for my DS3's afternoon nap...I know sometime they are too busy and rooms may not be ready until late afternoon - but would be nice if we can take a shower before going to dinner @ Poly - especially after a long day (+ flight) :cloud9:

1. yes - there is parking near the carriage house (check in area)
2. yes - you'll get everything you need
3. yes - I believe there is an iron and board in the main closet - double check on this one though. If you have to get one from housekeeping it won't take long, just press the button on the phone.
4. yes - the food court definitely has to-go - styrofoam take out containers. There is also seating if you'd prefer that somedays.

1.) parking available for check in at the carriage house

angelkk - SSR is a large resort. I bet that your room will be ready when you check in or shortly thereafter.
