Ighrob,
Hello from a fellow Minnesotan! I have stayed at a studio at OKW and I think that that is a wonderful choice! What is the difference between a standard room in a moderate and a DVC studio? Well, for starters the studios are larger (in fact bigger that the studios at BCV, WLV, or BWV). The bathrooms are downright huge! Also, you will get 2 queen beds, instead of 2 doubles, and a small kitchen area (small refrigerator, microwave, toaster, cupboard space) that connects the bedroom to the bathroom. The resort amenities at OKW are numerous, and the pool is nice, however you would give up having a food court option. Olivia's is a nice sit down restaurant, and the pizza delivery is great! I like the "feel" of OKW...kind of laid back and tropical, and the room decor is subdued but tasteful. We found the bus service, to and from the parks, to be great. Since there will be four of you, including one teen, on your trip, I would suggest OKW to allow you more room to spread out. You might want to consider renting points from a DVC member, rather than booking through CRO/WDTC, as you could save a lot of money. You might want to check out the DVC rent/trade board for more info on renting points, if you are not familiar with that option. As far as your kids liking OKW, I can tell you that our DS, who was 7 at the time we stayed there, loved it (but then again he is not hard to please and would probably be happy sleeping under the stars in a sleeping bag as long as he could be at WDW!) Wherever you decide to stay, have a great time on your Oct trip!
