newbie with booking questions

Hi- we just bought a BCV and am confused about booking. Our use year is Feb so let me know if I'm right- say in Feb 1 when my points start again I can book a BCV room with a checkout date of Jan 1, right? Now I get the impression there are no Jan use year so who gets first crack at Jan? Also can I make a ressie for the next use year using this years points? ie in Jul 04 could I use my 04 points for a BCV room in Jun 05. I tried a search but couldn't get any info so please excuse my confusion.

UY has no bearing on your reservations. You can make your reservation at 11 months at your home resort no matter when your UY is. You are correct in your assumption on your June 05 reservation.

you can bank your points to use next year, just make sure you bank them by your deadline. Since your use year is february, your deadline to bank 100% of you points is July 31st. You should bank your points in advance of this date if you are certian you are not going to travel for the remainder of your use year because you can't get banked points back, but I would imagine you could borrow your points from next year if you decided upon something last minute. Just make sure you either reserve with your points or bank them by July 31st. Your plan sounds like it will be ok, if you have any questions just call member services, they can help you with understanding banking, borrowing and resort reservation booking.

With February as your Use Year that means the "year" to use your points runs from February 1-January 31. As already mentioned, "when" you make your reservation has no connection to your Use Year. It's 11 months from check-out for your home resort and 7 months from check-out at all other resorts.


Your 2004 points will run from February 1, 2004-January 31, 2005. You will get another allotment in February 2005. If you want to travel in June 2005, you can make the reservation beginning in July 2004. The reservation will be made using the points from February 2005. If you want to use this year's points, you will have to tell MS to bank them and use them for the reservation. Once they are banked, they cannot be returned for travel between 2/1/2004-1/31/2005. However, you could "borrow" 2005 points if an unexpected trip came up. Once borrowed, the points also cannot be returned and would have to be used by 1/31/2005.

You can make a reservation with points for a use year that hasn't started yet as long as your date of stay is within that use year. For example, if you have a February use year and want to book a trip in September 2004, those February 2004 points would be considered current year points if you called now. You don't have to wait until February 1 to use them for reservations. You could also borrow February 2005 points now for this stay, because the stay is in your 2004 use year. Alot of new members think they have to wait until February 1 to book with those points or have to borrow 2004 to make a reservation now, that is not the case.
