Newbie "what are my BCV chances" question

My wife and I just bought a BCV resale that should allow us to be in the system in the next week or so. Right now we have approx. 400 points to use. Initially we thought we would just rent them out, but now we are coming down to stay at BCR from Nov. 25th to Dec. 2nd, and decided if somehow we were able to get astudio we would do it.

So, here's my question - I am assuming my chances for a remote are slim, but is it so slim that's its not even worth hopeing for? The issue I have is this:

1. If there is hope for the studio, then I would only start trying right now to rent my 400 points minus the studio points, OR

2. If there is NO REAL CHANCE IN YOU KNOW WHAT, then I would just immediately try to rent all 400 of my points now.

Any thoughts/suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your chances are very slim. I can't tell you if it's impossible, cause I always have hope that it will come through. Are you set on BCV? Would you be willing to stay at OKW or SSR if your waitlist for BCV didn't come through?

If it was me, going to WDW always outweighs what resort I'm staying at. I'd make a ressie somewhere, waitlist for BCV and rent the rest of my points. But call ASAP to get on that waitlist.

The waitlist has been moving pretty nicely the last few weeks. I was waitlisted at BCV beginning in May for 12/2-12/5, and I finally got it a few weeks ago.

p.s. Waitlists only go to 30 days from check in. Make sure you call in October to extend your waitlist to 7 days prior to check in (or, if you get a good MS rep, the'll automatically extend it for you when you get on the waitlist. Just ask and see if they'll do it.)

I just thought of something else you could consider doing. Rent all your points, then book your reservation through Disney Travel with the cash. You wouldn't have to wait on a waitlist for that, and you could get your reservation right away. I think they're doing room discounts right now through Dec. 23rd.

I tried the other day to get a studio at any DVC resort starting after Thanksgiving and moving the arrival up by days, NOTHING AVAILABLE for any of the days that we tried for.

As the old saying goes...you have two chances..slim and none...

I would go for the renting option or see if you can bank the points and use them sometime in 2008.

Try to see if they can be banked and use them next year. Renting out a reservation is not that easy with all the "shoppers" out there. Unless you have friends or coworkers who want to go to Disney and would rent a reservation from you, it really doesn't seem to be that easy.

You are not going to get BCV for Nov/Dec 2007.

Though I don't advicate renting out points.... you will get a 25% discount on CRO. An exception to Deb's rule. Unless, of course, she reads this and reams me out.

I'd go for it, if you wouldn't be too disappointed to stay in a different DVC resort if BCV didn't come through.

Last year, I booked a short-notice trip to WDW for the week after Thanksgiving. (I was only staying Sun.-Wed. though) I didn't call until the second week of October, and I got a studio at SSR right away. I waitlisted at BCV, BWV, and VWL. Well, only a week later, a studio at BCV opened up.

If the waitlist hadn't worked out, I'd have been happy with the SSR studio too. It's a beautiful resort, and I just wanted to be anywhere on Disney property. :wizard:

Congrats on your BCV purchase!

You'll get the discount only if it is available with MS. And if there aren't reservations available on points, probably no discounted cash nights either. No DVC discounts with CRO unless you have an AP or AAA member.

;)

Are you sure? We just added 2 cash nights on at HH and got a 25% member discount. I must be misunderstanding something. :confused3

-If you have an annual pass or plan on buying one, check AP rates at the Beach Club through CRO. If they have availability (and your dates aren't blacked out) it will be cheaper than 25% off rooms through MS.

-Call MS and see if they have any rooms available for cash reservations.

-Then if you need to "do what you're not supposed to do or Deb will get mad", you can post over on the rent/trade board.

Let us know how it goes!

Since your dates include the weekend after Thanksgiving, I would be skeptical of any discounts at WDW resorts.

You might call MS though and ask if waitlisting for ANY 1 bedroom at ANY DVC resort might not get you a room. It's the studios that are the hardest to get, and the 1 bedrooms are much easier (especailly at some of the resorts). you are attempting a last minute reservation at a VERY popular DVC time, where most DVC units are booked full very early. On top of that, you are trying to reserve at the second smallest on-site DVC resort. I do think if you ask MS, they will tell you what your chances might be of a waitlist, and if you expand to any DVC resort and a choice of studio OR 1 bedroom, your chances will improve.

You may be able to do a Point Transfer, if you decide not to Rent. If the points have not been banked, they can be transferred.
