Newbie Waitlist Question

Hi all - we are new members and have two rooms on waitlist for a few weeks from now. We currently have a room only reservation booked so I set the waitlist expiration at 7 days out since I can still cancel our room only if it happens to get filled. If I do happen to get one night that I find or both nights prior to the waitlist being filled in a room that isn't our top pick but we end up lucky and the waitlist is filled - would we have points put in holding for the room that has to get cancelled to replace with the waitlist room? Is that rule waived when you're replacing with a waitlist?

I use 31 days for waitlists that will replace a current reservation
I would only use 7 days to waitlist a new booking where I knew I would use it and could replace another booking for free (non DVC resort)

I will use a 7-day WL if the new reservation will require more points than the one it’s replacing, because in that case there won’t be any points to go into holding.
