Newbie Trying to Figure Out How the Codes Work...

We are planning to go to WDW in the fall of 2009 but do not know yet what dates. We are waiting to see where my dd gets into kindergarten.

What is the best way to book to keep my options open as far as promotions? Do I book through AAA and keep my eyes open for other discounts and have them switch if something comes available? Can the TA with WDW apply the AAA rate or do I have to go through a AAA TA?

We probably can only afford a value or moderate hotel but I would LOVE to stay somewhere like the Polynesian or Comtempory... how do people get such good rates at those hotels? When I price out a vacation, the hotel alone costs almost the amount of the entire vacation at a value resort. Can anyone provide any suggestions?

I always book my package through AAA. If a new deal comes out that coincides with the dates I have booked, I just contact AAA and get the new deal. They also keep an eye on any specials and will contact me if they here about them before I do.

As I tell everyone... Book a package you are comfortable with (in terms of payments and dates). But be on the lookout for new offers and get on them as soon as they come out.

So if rack rate or AAA at a mod is good for you now, maybe with a deal, you could move to a deluxe. Or get free dining, or save money...

Regarding AAA or not, you save up to 20% on the room portion only. However, make sure you get a seasoned TA or Disney specialist. They will know to apply codes as soon as they come out. And ask them to allow you to talk to any TA if they are not around. You don't want a code coming out the day the TA goes on vacation... A week later you might not have availability...
