Newbie Questions?

Barb D, which hotel is the same decision I'm stuck on. I know they will love the slide at POR or CSR but two bathrooms and more space w/ two value rooms sounds nice as well. I think I'm going to let them decide. I'll ask them do you want more space and two bathrooms or do you want a water slide. I'm sure the 6 an 10 yo will say the waterslide. But the teen girls might say two bathrooms. LOL!! Then we'll flip a coin. LOL!!!

It will depend to how much time will be spent at the pool. We spent very little time there, so it wasn't that important. Also our boys are all older 11,13,and 14.(and the 13 & 14 are taller than me) The trundle is only good up to age 9, I believe. We enjoyed the space of the two rooms. It made the mad rush to get ready in the morning a lot easier.

My 2 cents:

6 year old you should add the dining plan for her - $10/day. Ice cream bar = $2.50. You get her anything she wants for dinner and lunch - what a deal.

If you are going back to the resort for dip in the pool - take the CSR over the park hopper option. You will like the food court better there, closer to two parks, and the kids should like the pool better then the value resort pool. Food court at All-Star music was nice - but if you are doing dining having steak, prime rib, or other entrees as a counter service option is great.

You will probably like having a hot tub when you come back to the resort.

Have fun and hope your nieces and nephew have a great time. What a great aunt you are!!!

I am getting a better feel after seeing your last post while I was making mine...

Definately go with the choice of two bathrooms for teenage girls. All-stars are a great resort. If you will spend more time at parks - go with the value resort. If you can swing it with park hopping and dining that may add leverage to let them go to MGM to ride RnR or ToT or go to Epcot for a meal they may want.

1. Upgrade to moderate hotel, CSR vs. purchasing park hopper and/or water parks & more
These hotels have nice pool areas and slides. They've never been to WDW so they don't know anything about all the things that are available like Quest and the water parks. I'm sure they might see the water parks but I can explain to them we'll visit them next time because our tickets don't include the water parks. As long as they have a pool they'll be fine. The main parks will be crowded so visiting them two days will allow us time to do mostly everything. You are taking 6 people, that is a maximum of 2 rooms at any hotel you stay at. I would go for values.

2. Adding 6 yr old to pkg vs. buying her a separate ticket to the parks. 6 yo eats like a bird. Dining would be a big waste for her. I plan to go to one character breakfast and we can use one of our meal tickets for her. If I purchase the package for 5 can I ask that they not put dining on the package for the 6 yo? Everyone must be on the same package, as afore mentioned by many other posters, I am sure if she can't eat her food, her brother can.

3. Can I get a room for 4 and purchase the 6yo a 7 day park ticket when I arrive at the park? If you are getting a package, tickets come with it. Furthermore, if you plan on doing either early morning entry of later night activities, everyone must have a room key to get access.

4. Is there a gatekeeper at the pool and water slides at CSR? Don't know

I wanted to say you are a great aunt for taking them and allowing them about 6 mos to wish hope and dream.

Hi - we'll be there the same time - at the Contemporary.

You're a great aunt - but every state in the US has water parks and cool stuff like Disney Quest so I wouldn't personally do those activities. Your nieces/nephew need to spend their times in the four parks enjoying everything that they have to offer!!!!

I just read another Disney Board and found out the weeked we're going is Gay Day weekend, June 3 and 4. Should I be concerned? Are we talking a couple of hundred people or thousands of people participating? I may need to change my plans. Before anyone flames me, I'm not bashing them. It's an event and it will be more crowded than usual at the parks. I'm trying to see if I need to change dates, maybe June 5 - 11 instead of June 3 - 9.

I wouldn't worry about Gay Day - we go every year and this has never been a problem. FYI - they normally focus their activities around the MK for that Saturday/Sunday so just plan your visits to the other parks for that weekend.

Thanks RC. I see you live in Katy, I'm straight up 35N in Plano, TX. Did you watch the Cowboys game yesterday? Go COWBOYS!!!!!

I have to admit that I was watching the Texans - BUT ONLY because one of the little boys I babysat all through Jr High and High School plays for Tennessee - Bo Schobel.

And I'm very happy to report that Tennessee won!!!!
