Sorry for my newbie lack of knowledge....I keep reading about discounts on cash ressies. Do we as DVC members get these types of discounts or do we also have to have an AP to get these discounts. I am wondering because we may arrive a day early or late at night and from what I have read most members say to not use points for just a sleep night much better value for your points if you spend the day you arrive at the resort. I am so new to this I don't have my access code to the members site yet. Have been able to bank my points into next year with MS.

DVC members may be able to get a 25% discount on cash rooms at DVC resorts booked by MS. The discount is not always available.

Yeah the AP discount is different and honestly we've found it to be better, more frequent.

The AP isn't worth the cost to us right now. We've just done 3 trips of 10 days in the parks in the past 4 years. We really are just looking for a relaxing type of vacation for the next few years. We still have 8 days NE from our trip in March '09. We only used 2 this year...the rest should cover us for the next 3-5 trips. No longer interested in the commando type holiday. This is why we bought DVC....for the resort life.

We have used discounted cash twice. We have been lucky that it has been available both times. Also you can book through CRO if there is a current discount going on. For example we can book the military discount for 40% off which is more than the DVC disc. HOWEVER....they might have a problem linking them to our DVC points stay. I have YET to try that. We are arriving late for our July trip. We are thinking of booking a 1 br. villa at the Buena Vista Suites DTD for that one night. It woudl cost us 99 before tax. Depending on when you are going...the rates are 88 or 99 for a night. They sleep 6 and you get a free breakfast the next morning too. Since we are driving for the first time in a long time...we are unsure of when we will arrive SSR. I don't want to waste Friday night weekend points if we are going to pull into SSR at 9:00. If it were a weekday..I would probably go for it. Good luck. :goodvibes
