with all due respect, there are 2 sides. the guides are trying to make
a living. i have read some negative responses where they have
been confronted by those jumping from direct to resales. the guides
have families.
used cars vs. new.
however, i don't see this debate as second vs first class. instead,
i have used this area to figure out how to meet our family needs &
getting the promises made by our guide. this was one of the reason
we purchased direct over resales.
i seen some really bad outcomes in the public market regarding health
care. some areas should not be measured by the bottom line.( especially
health care.) when our local hospital got rid of their experienced nurses
& replaced with new grads...guess what happened to quality of care?
(more than once- taking off the wrong body parts, & so forth.
i was on this site prior to becoming dvc owner. many gave negative
feedback when i posted this angle. however, we have had many
successful dvc vacations by using this.
any tier system , i would hope would used these differences to
balance out the money values between direct & resales. imo , there
is no way to effective boast of the great savings & complaining
about those having benefits for direct. their guides need to
have direct perks to make a living. and there are many "options"
for evening the playing field.
one of my strongest feedback is the area of "perks". i could care less
about tiny discounts, & the sorts. instead it is about gaining
direct approval for using the dvc rooms--the very thing we paid
for & were "promised " when we first met with our guide. so far,
we have been very lucky and our jitters have went away.
still no system prefect. my "new hope" for new leadership, is for recognizing
problems & taking actions toward corrective measures. and keep moving
forward.
imo, all blt owners have a disadvantage in comparing to ssr
owners. if you don't booked by 7 mos. , most likely you will not get
your home resort. or if you have to make last minute changes.
since ssr has so many more rooms & the majority trying to move
to another dvc, it is easier to plan more within 7 mos.. or
last minute changes. and using blt points for ssr is not the same
value like ssr to blt so the reflux is going one way against blt
owners.
the things i learned here has been invaluable toward supporting our
desires. i still don't get references about first/second class because
when we "do" our
disney vacations, i see dvc as a tool for
implementation. unless dvc required a badge proclaiming one
group over the other than i can't see getting upset. but if we had
purchased resales instead of direct, i don't think we would have
the same argument with our home resort. for example, it
wouldn't bother me when ssr owners have the best choices when
they are staying @ their home resort.[ if we ever wanted to stay
there.]
to me, i think dvc are obligated to make these changes in order
to support their guides. they can only take "talk" so far. i don't think
the guide was trying to insult you but trying to make a sale point &
one that his family needs to live on. i know when i buy an used car,
i don't expect getting the new car smell. based on that observation,
i think the guides are hoping for a little "boost."
i don't know about your situation but did this guide spent time &
effort toward you? if so, i don't think it is hard to see his loss.
it just liked the used year thing. we go to disney all the time. however,
we picked the 4mos. that we were less likely wanted to go.
still,
i wouldn't let no one influence me on how we feel about our dvc unless
the person was offering something positive. it just liked our disney
vacations-some are better than others but all have special moments.
good luck in reaching your primary goal.
