Hello all!

I've been surfing the DIS boards since 1997, but I just recently started reading your board, here, and I am SO impressed with all of your expertise. Thanks so much for all the tips!!

I am very, VERY new to scrapping, and I have a question...

I have been told that the CM personal trimmer is a worthwhile investment, but I realize that they just transformed this to a new style.

There are several of the "old versions" available on eBay.

Would you suggest the "old style" or the "new style" for a SB Newbie?!?

TIA!

And LOVE it! Especially for cutting pictures.

I still have the Fiskars, which I use for trimming down 12 by 12 paper...but the CM Trimmer cuts more accurately and cleanly for smaller pieces.

Hope that helps!

Patti

I also love the New Personal Trimmer because it has a drawer. I love to put my blades and Corner Rounder in it. Easy to keep up with.

the new one. I bought the new one it is awesome compared to the older one. It is more durable and has a totally different feel to it and I think it cuts much smoother.

I would invest the $20 in the newer one.

Good Luck.

And,
:smooth: welcome to the board. It's a lot of fun here.

Thanks very much for your replies and kind welcome!!

I attended a "Beginner's Class" at my local scrapbooking shop yesterday (you all refer to that as a LSS, right?) :). There were two girls in their cropping, and "one liked the old one, and one liked the new one."

So you guys have now pointed me towards the new one - thanks!

And also thanks for mentioning the price - I had no IDEA what it would cost!

I'll be attending a CM Crop Friday night at my Church - so I look forward to seeing their products!

I appreciate your help - be prepared for more questions!! :)

I have an old one which I love. I spotted a new one at a crop last week, and it looked really nice, so I may just have to invest in one of those now :D

I like the new personal trimmer too! Esp. b/c of the mat and the drawer, and in general, it seems to just cut a lot nicer! :)

When I was at my SDU class last month they showed me a new trimmer (sorry, but I forgot the name) anyway, it was alot like the fiskars, but SO much better. It had a mat under it and the top part didn't bow out and make crooked cuts like the fiskars can do so often. Anyway, they said they would be getting these in the store in April. You may want to look into them at your LSS. I though they worked great!

Now you guys have me thinking that I may have to track down a CM to actually see this new cutter. I have the older one without the drawer, etc. and love it. But I have wondered about sharpening it when it dulls, as it inevitably will do - so maybe the solution is just to buy the new one! :p

When it dulls, just cut some aluminum foil or waxed paper with it and it will sharpen right up (I have personally used foil, not waxed paper but hear that waxed paper is good too).

Another vote for the new CM trimmer...I thought "what's the difference?" but the feel is much different, much sturdier.
