In general, how common is it to encounter problems with misinformation, errors, etc?

We joined under F &F; asked the sales rep about the dining plan beginning 4-1. He said no, that it was available to DVC now. With that in mind, we scheduled a 2 br for March. All 8 people agreed they absolutely wanted the plan. Called MS to arrange plan & tickets & was told it wasn't avail. until 4-1. Called the sales guy back, who accepted total responsibility & promised to "fix it". At the last conversation with him we were asked whether we would be willing to change dates if Disney would cover the difference in airfare. No need to outline all of the aggrevation that would be associated with that option, but what do you seasoned DVC folks think? What would be an acceptable outcome?

Thanks for any input you can give.

I'd chalk it up to sales person error and take your planned trip and forget about the dining plan. We don't find it to be a good choice for us anyway. We find the DDE card saves us far more than the dining plan would.

DDE = Disney Dining Experience

If you are Florida resident or an Annual Passholder, you can buy the DDE card. The cost for AP holders is $60. It gives a 20% discount at many (probaby most) Disney sit down restaurants. The 20% includes alcoholic beverages. There are places in AK that are counter service that are included, Tasker House is one, and Flame Tree Barbeque another. The food courts at the value restaurants are also included. The discount is for your party for up to 10 people. We bought one membership and it has saved us lots of money. DH is keeping a record for the year, when we will decide if we will renew it or go with the Dining Plan. So far the DDE seems to be a better deal for us.

If it were me, personally, I'd just chalk one up to a cast member error and let it go. In my opinion, the dining plan probably won't save you a lot of $ anyway. So I'd just keep my original dates, and maybe give the dining plan a shot on the next trip.

I have found the inconsistency of information to be one of the major issues with WDW as a whole and DVC is not immune.

That is why the DIS is such a great place! Even when Im at WDW, im checking the DIS for the latest information because Im sorry, if you ask 3 CM's you will get 3 different answers.

I would be peeved, but I would also give them opportunity to fix it. Im not gonna sugar coat it and say this is rare, because it is rampant all over WDW. The guides do give out misinformation and most of the time, when a new incentive is out, we know here before our guides do.

On the other hand, if this was a sleazy sales tactic, your guide wouldnt be so apologetic or even try to fix it, so I do believe that he was just misinformed and DVC should do better in getting them pertinent info in a timely manner.

Thanks for the ongoing great advice & info! I have picked up an unbelievable amount of info from this board!
