Hi Y'all. I'm new to DVC, we'll be coming home for the first time in June and doing a split stay at BCV and AKV. I'm not sure when and how I should buy our tickets. The whole RFID/MagicBand introduction is making me even more confused.

What I don't want to end up with, if I can avoid it, are paper tickets. Is this still what they give guests who purchase tickets separately, not as part of a package? I know that AP holders are now being given cards with RFID chips in them, but what about regular tickets?

I just don't like the idea of having tickets that are not on our KTTW card. Too many things to keep track of. I don't care if its on a card or a wristband - I just want everything all in one.

If I order tickets online now, what will they send me? Should I just wait until we get there? Can I get them at the front desk and have them added to our KTTW cards?

I would buy them now because there is a rumored price increase coming in April. When you get there, they can add them to your KTTW.

If you have a U.S. service member (active duty, Reserves, or retired) or a Department of Defense employee in your travel party, your best bet for tickets is from Shades of Green.

If not, your best bet for Magic Your Way tickets is Undercover Tourist. If you sign up for the Mouse Savers newsletter, you'll get a special link to the Undercover Tourist site that has additional discounts on top of the prices in the link I posted.

Both of these locations will give you a paper ticket. You can take that to your resort Concierge, though, and have it moved onto your room key.

Okay, so they ARE still issuing paper tickets, even though they are starting to add RFID chips to KTTW cards and APs?

What will happen to paper tickets when the MagicBands come out?

MYW tickets issued on property contain an RFID chip.

As for what Undercover Tourist and other authorized ticket sellers are send out, that I don't know. If they are tyvek, they can be converted to RFID at any ticket window or guest relations location. They can also be added to a KTTW card by the concierge desk at your resort.

Disney has said that MagicBands are optional. If you opt out of the MagicBands, you will be using an RFID enabled card.
