Newbie - Help Needed (Please)

We are planning to travel to Disney on 12/8 - 12/15 and would like to rent points through a DVC Member. I have been reading about booking more than 7 months out vs. waiting until 5/8. I'm still a little confused though...essentially is it better to wait to start looking for points to rent until 5/8 as we'll potentially have more options/resorts available to us? Thanks!

DVC owners have the Home Resort privilege which allows them to book stay at their resort 11 months away from arrival. At 7 months, all DVC members may now book any resort.

You should look to book your reservation now, because at the 7 month window, there will be less supply. Especially if you are staying at a popular resort.

If you are looking at booking a studio even if you book now you will probably have to take SSR. Your options if you're willing to book a one bedroom will be much better but I would not wait any longer.

If you already have a DVC member lined up to rent from, then that person can check the December resort and room availability for you now. If that member’s home is the resort you want, then they can book the room for you now (assuming the room is available). If it’s not their home resort, then they can still tell you what is currently open. Just make sure they book right at the 7 month window, in that case.

Yes. Frankly, your options will already be wildly limited.

DVC members can book at the resort they own at 11 months. At 7 months, their points can be used anywhere... pending availability. Right now, availability for many resort+room type combos is already terrible. If you're willing to book a 1BR (more $$) it is somewhat better.

The sooner you book is the time that will give you more options. However, as mentioned, that is one of the most popular DVC times and studios have been booked for quite a long time at almost all resorts. Saratoga Springs is likely the only option left. A 1BR may have better availability but 2BR's will also be very limited.
