Newbie confused about banking

I just finalized my membership and have a September UY. Does that mean I have to bank this year's points by the end of May, since that's four months before my UL - or do I not have any points until this September?

If you purchased new from DVC, I assume you have 2010 points to bank. I would check with your guide though just to be sure. If you did get 2010 points and aren't planning to use them before September, I'd see if you can get the guide to bank them for you.

You need to bank any points you won't need for reservations prior to August 31. The Banking Deadline is by the end of the 8th month of your Use Year - which for a September Use Year is April 30 so you are now beyond the banking deadline for your Use Year.

If you have points from your 2010 Use Year that you want to use between 9/1/11 - 8/31/12 you should call MS and see if they will allow you an exception to the banking deadline. If you have just purchased from DVC directly, your guide may be able to help with a little Disney **Magic**.

How long ago did you buy in? If it was after April 30, I would think your guide would have done this for you anyway or at least spoken to you about it.

I am a newbie also, JUST got my member number and booked two trips!! What I was told is that the 2010 points I just received have to be used by NOV, 2012 but need to be banked if not used by the end of July 2011. I was told to let them know what I wanted banked. and I just did this.

It sounds like you have a December Use Year, so your banking deadline is July 31 each year for any points you won't be able to use by November 30.
