So I have been haunting this forum for about 2 weeks. I have learned many things. Mostly that I'm a huge slacker. We ,DH,DD,DS, and myself, leave in 5 days for WDW. We are driving from Boston to Raleigh and flying from there. We arrive at WDW on Sun. Yeah!! We have no touring plan or ADRs! We do have reservations at SSR. We are DVC members.
We have been twice before and survived relatively well so I thought who needs all this advanced planning.

Are there any other slackers out there?

 Welcome. I winged it my first trip. After that trip I swore I would plan from now on. I got lucky as I knew I had to make ADR, for everything else we just went with the flow. I missed out on a lot of things by doing this. So now I plan, plan and plan.:rolleyes1
Have a great trip :thumbsup2

I guess I don't get what I'm missing. We have been before and the kids could not ride all the rides too young. I forgot to post ages DD(9) and DS(6). Slacker! Now when we go I figure they can ride the ones they missed. I'm sure they will not want to ride some because they think they are too old! We had breakfast with Lilo and Stitch last time. Really great!! DD would not mind doing it again but DS has no desire. Had dinner with Chip and Dale. Also good but not our favorite food. First year had breakfast with Pooh. Loved it but now kids are way too old. There is no way DS will go back to breakfast with the Princesses! Chef Mickey would be nice but I would really have to get out of slackerdom to book that. We are going to do some of the fireworks this year because the kids are finally old enough to be awake.
Am I missing something huge?

As a fellow Bostonian (almost, we're in Danvers !), I'm curious. Why are you driving to Raleigh and then flying ? Just curious as to why you picked there ? Have a great trip ! :thumbsup2

We were going to drive all the way and stay at Raleigh at a friends house. Then I chickened out and found cheap flights from Raleigh. We now have 2 extra days because we fly at 9 and arrive at 10:30 and hit the pool or a park. DH will get to play golf. If we would have driven we would have spent most of Sun the day in the car. Very convient to have a friend to leave the car with and have a ride to the airport. She is very happy to help having just moved there last year and misses home.

Do you guys drive? We live south of boston and know a few that drive to FLA every year but it seems so far.

We have never driven. My DW is a VERY nervous (read:neurotic) passenger in the car, invisible brake pedal being mashed thru the floor if a car 10 miles in front of us has it's brake lights on ! Don't think I could drink enuf and still drive to make it bearable ! I and my kids don't mind flying. Last trip my DS and I flew, while my DW and DD took Amtrak 2 days earlier. My DW enjoyed it, but my DD said never again ! So, next trip( maybe Aug. '09,I will fly with the 2 kids and my DW will have to decide how she wants to travel. She hates flying even worse than driving, if you can imagine !! Have a great trip !! :thumbsup2

If your DW really hates to fly, have her try taking a Tylenol PM (just one) right before she boards, night, night, and 3 hours later. Viola, Disney. That's how my friend flys!:lmao:

I'm in Raleigh and we've always driven....about 9 hours. We've stayed off property the first night on a couple of trips because of this. It's cheaper than checking into the resort. That said....I ALWAYS plan our trips. Which park, which day, ADRs, tours, parties and any other special activities. The only day I leave open is our OFF day. This way I can enjoy the trip without getting frustrated because off 'poor planning'. The thought of going to WDW with no planning scares me to death. I wouldn't enjoy myself and I would be tense and worried the whole time.

But this is just me. To each his own! Just wanted to chime in.

teacup317, tylenol Pm is not strong enuf. She takes prescription drugs and a couple of alcoholic nips. Then she's manageable !! :)
