I am staying currently at BLT on cash. We live near by and spend many nights at WDW so DVC makes sense for us. The question I have is I don't know if I am getting the incentives that I should be receiving? I have read several things on line and need help!

1) I read if you finance with Disney closing cost is waved? Is this correct?

2) I have also read that after 160 points they can knock off some money off the points? I was not given that option and was told it"s not true.

3) I also read that the cost of points depends on your home base. Is this correct?

I just don't feel comfortable with our sales guy, I feel that we had no connection but just trying to get the sale.:confused3

Please help, I am going to become a memebr just don't want to feel as if I was taken advantage of.

Thanks!!

You need a referral from a DVC member to get the best discounts. It is currently called the Friends and Family discount. The referral gives you the cruise option, where the length of the cruise is determined by the point amount you buy. Or you can forgo the cruise for a extra cash saving.
Here is a link at DVC news on the current incentives set to expire on August 15th with new incentives about August 20th. Will the new incentives be better, who knows but the trend is yes.

If you don't like your DVC agent pick another!

Disney charges closing costs for new buyers whether you finance or not. Add-on's by current members do not have closing costs.

And yes, the price per point varies depending on the resort you are buying at. Currently BLT is the most expensive of the current resorts with AKV and SSR having larger discounts.

Hi - I would be happy to have you use me as a referral and give you the name and number of my Disney Vacation Club Guide. I have referred several other members and they have all been very very happy with her. Also, they are having a promotion right now where if you purchase 100 points or more by a certain date (I think the end of summer but I don't remember) you get a bonus 3 or 4 day Disney Cruise. If you purchase more points you get a longer cruise. My guide would be happy to explain everything. Respond on this thread if you are interested and I will send you the info.

p.s. I just came back from staying at the Beach Club Villas on Tuesday and loved it! I have never ever regret the decision to purchase a membership!

Take care and good luck,
VFBurnett

1. no, that's not true. You still pay closing costs, but it's substantially less than if you bought resale. Also, Disney pays half of them. I think we paid about $200 in closing costs, I can't remember the exact number. As you probably know you go over a ton of numbers when considering a DVC.

2. You should get some discount, but will get a substantial one with a referral. I'd be happy to be one for you, just pm if you'd like.

3. This is also true. Our cost per point would have been cheaper at Grand Cal or AKV but in the end we decided we really wanted BLT. You also should look at the maintenance fees. BLT is less than AKV. When we crunched the numbers it was almost a wash over time.

If you don't like your guide, switch!!! This is a big purchase you should be comfortable with you you're buying from. Our guide is Jenna Mazza and she's fabulous. We talked to her over the phone around Feb 09. She answered our questions and that was it. We didn't get pestering phone calls. We signed up for a DVC tour and she was great, no pressure at all. She actually encouraged us to make sure the time was right for us, she wanted us to be happy with our purchase.
