Newbie..1st trip to Disney planning help!!

So my husband, son and daughter are planning our first trip to Disney. We been to Orlando a few times but never to disney! We will be staying outside of Disney and renting a car. So excited but really don't know where to start in regards to all things Disney! So basically in need of all the dos and don'ts, what to purchase or not, reservations, etc. What are the magic bands? Ahhh so many questions! Lol

That's so exciting! You guys are going to have a great time! I'd start checking out trip reports of families with kids in the same age group as your daughter. I'm always learning great tips from other peoples experience!

I'd recommend at least 5 days, one float day that you can do whatever park you'd like (which means you'll need to have a park hopper for that one day). Night time shows are a must in my eyes! Depending on when you're going is depending on what you'll see at Magic Kingdom, you'll either see the all time favorite "Wishes" or the all new "Happily Ever After." Epcot has Illuminations, Hollywood Studios has Fantastmic and lastly-the newest show to hit WDW, Rivers of Light in Animal Kingdom.
