newbe question: point transfers

i just closed on my DVC. Now that I have an account and member number I can have points transfer, when i rent points from another person, right?

What makes points transferable? ( I noticed some points stating "points are not transferable")

I assume it is less risky to have the points transferred to my account than to have the seller of the points make my reservations.

Is there any issues I should be aware of with regards to transferring points?

Points are not transferable if they are banked or borrowed. Only current points can be transfered.

Transfering points with a stranger can be risky because the person transfering points to your account has to in some way have access to your member number in order to do it. But I have tranfered points into my account in the past and it was very simple to do and the person I did it with was excellent.

I hear more bad things about rentees backing out of deals than anything.

Most people expect payment up front for a transfer, before the points are transferred.

Is there a maximum number of transfers that can be done in a year?

No maximum, but the rules say that it is one-way in a given year.

If your first transfer in a year is out of your account, then the remainder of your transfers that year must be out of your account, and vice-versa.
