Has anyone flown out of Newark recently? How bad are the delays, if any?

Last year when we flew out of Newark we taxied on the runway for almost an hour!!! Hope it's better when we fly out next weekend!

We flew out of Newark on Monday 8/28. We only had about a 15 minute wait once we pulled away from the gate. I'm used to hearing "Folks, we are 19th in line for takeoff", so this wasn't bad at all!

my parents flew out of newark two days after the big ban fiasco. they said there really no extra delays that they could see. the only time i've sat waiting to take off was when they had to de-ice the plane.

EWR is no different than most of the large airport in this country, too many flights and not enough runways.
It always seems to have delays, a lot depends on the time of day and the weather. Nothing you can do so bring a good book and relax.

I would if I could but having a 3 yr old it makes you tense...just praying that they behave...and you kind of don't blame them... since they are probably bored out of their little minds!

the earlier you fly out of newark, the better. i always get flights as early in the day as possible to avoid delays.

I have flown with my kids since they were six months old. I agree with you, I would always hold my breath hopping for a smooth, quick flight.
Have you tired a portable DVD player, they are under 100 dollars and the best investment for small children. Putting them in a car seat also helps, since they know that they cannot get out of the seat.

Sorry to say, you are not allowed out of your seat while waiting to take off. If the plane is not secure, they will loose their place in line. We had been sitting on the tarmac one time, waiting to take off and a woman gets up with a 2 yo and insisted that she had to change her diaper NOW. Boy, you should have heard the rest of the passengers. Everyone in sync said "SIT DOWN NOW".... She sat back down and we did not lose our place in line at Newark to take off. She was not happy...

we actually bring a laptop with us for her to watch movies on... plus we're flying jetblue this year and not continental... and they have the tv's in the backs of the seats and more leg room! :thumbsup2

Most airlines add extra time to the flight times to allow for the taxi time.
