Yea apparently that's a new rule, which sucks. You used to be able to get the credit no matter when the price decreased. Now it's only a free credit if the price goes down within 14 days of buying your ticket. From their site:
In the event that a fare on a JetBlue-operated flight decreases after purchase, customers may rebook travel at the lower fare on the same flight with no charge if rebooked within 14 days of the date the original ticket was purchased, and prior to departure. Any difference in fare will be returned in the form of a JetBlue credit, good for one year from the date of issuance. Effective August 14, 2014, there is a $75 fee associated with honoring a lower fare on tickets exchanged 15 days or more from the original purchase date.
I just called and e-mailed JetBlue yesterday to let them know of my frustration regarding this policy. I was not aware that this rule had been instated, and one of the reasons I booked JetBlue was because I knew they did this, only I was not aware of the time limit.
My airfare dropped by $57 dollars, but the fee they are charging is now $75 if you wait until after 14 days. This makes the change in price negligible and I'm out the money. I do understand that rule is a rule, but I am frustrated none the less.
What makes me most angry is that I essentially am being punished for being proactive. I have watched the airfare go up in price since I purchased it, to $50 dollars more than what I paid. Essentially, people who waited to buy their ticket, the day before the price drop, are now getting a $100 dollar credit to their account, and a cheaper fare than I paid. How does this make any sense?
