So any New Yorkers eligible to get the tax rebate that are being issued? If so what are you using it for?

Us, we aren't doing anything exciting. Just paying off a couple of medical bills from an ER trip last Christmas. But that will get rid of two of them and even though they're small it is two less bills that I have to pay.

:cool1::cool1:

I believe there is also a rebate for homeowners which will be issued in a few months.

My vote is to refund $ to all taxpayers.

Tossing them both right into my daughter college savings account.

What a coincidence right before the November election.

What there's an election coming up? I didn't notice! :rotfl2:

Ours came at a great time, almost exactly the amount for winter boat storage.

My coworker got hers yesterday. I live about 1 mile away and didn't get mine yet. I'll take the $350 but it's not like it's going to make or break me-would have been nice to be $350 per child but I'll take whatever they are giving. I'll probably just use it to pay a bill or something boring.

Where can you check if you qualify?

Never mind just checked and since they are using 2012 tax info I don't qualify.

Just for others who are unsure the requirements are based on the 2012 taxes and you had to meet the following requirements
-filed a refund in NY state in 2012
- had a child under the age of 17 in 2012
- made between $40,000 and $300,000 in 2012

If you don't meet all the requirements no check.

Since my youngest turned 18 this year, I assumed we weren't getting it, but thanks to this post, I saw that it is from our 2012 return. Yay-in desperate need of a new roof so this will help.

Well I didnt even know about it and I see we wouldnt get it anyway because our ds are over 17

We got ours yesterday and I didn't know why(except that it is an election year), but now I see it's because my dd was 16 in 2012. We will use it to pay for her college books.:cool1:

We moved last month so heaven only knows when we will see our check. When it gets to us, it is going into the Disney fund. Any other random checks go in the college fund for our 3 year old.

What a coincidence right before the November election.

I'll take the money, but my vote's not for sale - especially to the incumbent.
It was found money for me - So I'm taking my DD to Comic Con.

I had not heard of it until I read this thread. Will be putting it towards NYS high property school tax that is due next week.

We had no idea about it until our check arrived a few days ago. We'll be using it towards our kiddos' rooms (moving the twins into their own rooms and big kid beds).

Got ours yesterday. It will go towards the balance we owe on our February trip. Looking forward to getting the homeowners rebate as well.

I am just annoyed! We make the AGI for federal but not for the state because we put a large some of $ in our son's collage fund; which pulls are state AGI below the minimum!

2012 was a rough year for my family; my 19 year old son passed away suddenly. I left my job to be home and help my kids cope; so our AGI was much lower then usual!

I know those are the rules, and I did get a tax deduction, however; it still bugs me! Oh well I will live I guess!
