Beth,

It would probably be best to just book the flights and accomodation seperately if you want something that Virgin dont do.

Its very easy to do, either just call the hotel directly or book thru one of the on line sites.

What I can thoroughly recommend if you are thinking of going for two weeks is to combine it with a trip to WDW while you are over. Flights to florida from JFK only take about 3 hours and are really cheap (about $60). Virgin and BA both allow you to fly into NY and out of Orlando.

You might like to look at Astrid's thread on the UK CB - here - she used Bon Voyage.

We are going soon for 4 nights/5 days and had to book our flights separately to the hotel - we checked a number of websites - expedia, lastminute, the airline websites, plus called Virgin Travelstore and we got the best rate with Opodo for an American Airlines flight - for four of us rerturn (the two boys pay adult price), it has come to a total of $1,116.80 - £279.20 each.

We have booked one of the Courtyard Marriott Hotels in midtown as we needed to be near Central Park etc - we are attending a wedding and we have tied in with another family so we can stay in the same hotel - so although you may get more competitive rates elsewhere, we found we could have one room for the four of us at the Courtyard , instead of paying double the price for two rooms. Most of the hotel rooms in NY are quite small and really only fit two comfortably but the Courtyard rooms are, apparently larger. ( I'll report back once we've returned!)

Hi Beth

As Shirley says, I booked my trip for December at Bon Voyage, they were the cheapest I could find for what I wanted (and I did a load of trawling around brochures!), we are flying United Airlines and staying at the Grand Hyatt.

Bon Voyage book the flights and hotels separately which gives a much wider range of combinations which may suit you better considering the number of nights you would like to stay.

A link for them is here: Bon Voyage

and a good place to look for comments on the various hotels out there is here: New York Hotel Reviews

Hope that helps! We'll be out there at the same time! :)

Thanx Guys :)

Well, just been going through the virgin book again, and i seen you can do "twin centres",and it does one which is 10days orlando, and 4days new york etc...and we quite fancy this one,but we have to be awkward we want to spend xmas 25th in disney, and new year in new york,? if you get us? i dont know if its possible, going off the prices in the book im sure ive done it wrong,it came to around £2500,for us 3? but just been on the site to pre book it well to get an idea, and it came up with 22grand!!!!!! it must be a fault LOL surely!!!!?

 We are complete Novices to booking holidays as our last holiday to disney was booked by my brother, and we didnt have to do anything just hand over the pennies lol,so we dont know where and what to start with!!!

We seriously need help now,we want to get it sorted..lol...any advice gratefully accepted!!!
Im feeling really silly now

Beth,

If you dont want to do it all yourself, pop down to you local friendly travel agent and get them to book you a Flight into Orlando and out of New York, both Virgin and BA definitely do this. Then get them to book an internal flight with Delta or some local carrier for the Orlando to NY bit - when we did this it was $60 - preferably get into JFK and not Newark as the journey in is easier from JFK.

Call up Disney and book the Hotel and then call up the Marriot central reservation number (its on the internet) and book the NY hotel - just ask for a Midtown/South of Central Park location somewhere near Times Square or the Rockerfeller Center - if you are unsure of the location post the details and I'll give what advice I can on its location. Marriot hotels are always OK and so it takes the risk out of booking a hotel you dont know.

Voila all done, should take about an hour and will probably be cheaper than getting virgin to do it as well.

Dont worry about NY thats very easy, just turn up at the airport go out to the Taxi rank and a yellow cab will take you straight to Manhattan for about $50, you shouldnt need to wait more than 10 mins depending on the queue.

If youve got any questions on NY I'll do my best to answer as I go fairly often on buiness.

Cheers

Martin
