This may have been asked before and forgive me for since i can't find that link...but when we are dock to Cape Carniveral to go WDW for the day--Will we be able to utilized the Disney Fast Passes 60 days before? If so, how does that work?

Great question. Last time I did the 8 night Bahamas from NYC (May of 2012) we got park tix onboard so I don't think we had any option for fast pass in advance but that was 3 years ago and I am a bit fuzzy. I think they had paper fast passes back then and no My Disney Experience.

I do have to say it was very organized. You picked which park you wanted to start off at and lined up for the bus for that park (they had queues set up in the atrium). You could then get yourself from park to park if you wanted. They also handed out bus schedules with times that listed the last buses from the parks.

We did Animal Kingdom as we were going to do the Wild Africa Trek on our own.

Does anyone know if the 2012 Bahama cruises sold out? I live close to NYC so we are considering this but we are also planning a trip this Dec and next May to the world so I have to see if we can make it work.

Not sure if they sold out, but you're a few years too late. :earboy2:

They only use one gangway in NY -- midship. Security is closer to the street side entrance. I know in 2012 when we did b2b on NYC sailings, they walked us all the way back to the street elevators to go back up to go through security -- no middle entrance to get back through.

Yes, you would park on the roof and then walk toward the street and down the interior escalator one level to the terminal for security check (x-ray machines). Then you would walk all the way to the back of the terminal for actual check in and waiting to board.

Here are some pics of the terminal from the 2012

In the pic above you can see where you walk out of the terminal and down the outside walkway a bit and then you would enter the gangway (on the left of the pic). We entered on Deck 3, just like in Port Canaveral.

And finally the crew gangway. This pic was taken on May 18th when we were in NY as a port stop on the EBTA. There were many press people boarding via the crew gangway for the big announcement about the NYC 2016 itineraries.

Thank you both. Now, would I be able to drop off my luggage to the porters and then park the car? How about drop off bags, park car and then go into the city for a couple of hours before checking in?

Yes, you would pull up onto the middle level and drop your bags with the porters. The you would continue a short bit and go up a circular ramp to the roof to park. You would just walk down with your carryons.

There is also a ramp up to the roof as soon as you enter the terminal area but don't take that one . Stay on the middle level until you drop your bags and use the ramp at the other end of the terminal.

Above you can see the three levels. You would pull up to the middle level (entrance would be all the way down to the right out of view). At the entrance on street level there is a ramp up to the middle level. Porters will be there.

In this pic you can see 2 ramps. The curved one is the ramp to roof for parking and where the person is crossing the street that is the exit ramp of the terminal.

The bottom level is reserved for limos, buses, etc. and the middle level is for cabs and car drop offs and pick ups. Roof is for parking.

Sure. They are heated so just depends on outside temp and how brave the persons using them are. They don't close them just because of the season.
We cruised Disney to Alaska twice and the kids had no problems with the pools at all. The air was cold, but the pools were heated. The adult pools were empty though.

This is wonderful to read! The 2016 DVC Member Cruise is out of NYC too. September 28, 4 nights, to Halifax!

thank you. thank you. thank you! for this parking information. We are also on the 2016 Member Cruise out of NYC. We're driving in from S. Jersey and this answered my luggage drop off and parking questions perfectly. Now I just have to get my DH to avoid the temptation of driving straight to the roof to park when we first enter the garage and hit the porters on the mid level.

We have a tendency to arrive early though so this may turn into an unavoidable situation with parking on the rooftop first. I'm envisioning no porters until a certain hour. Has anyone been in this situation?

Also, our cruise is arriving from a WBTA if I'm not mistaken so the ship may arrive at a different time than the other NYC cruises. Does anyone know what time that cruise is expected in?

thanks

Well, just so happens I dropped off and picked up my parents from their NYC cruise this week. Actually, I dropped them off last Sunday for the NCL Breakaway and picked them up this past Sunday. When I dropped them off at a 11:50 there were porters outside on the curb. We did have to go up to one and get him to come over to us and the process is a bit more hectic than Port Canaveral but was still not bad. When I picked them up on Sunday I got there at 9:50 and there were porters helping the departing guests with their luggage but I did some new arrivals and porters were taking their bags at that time.

Just to clarify....there really is no parking garage. It is just roof top parking. You just enter an open ramp to the mid level and pull up to the curb. The ship is right there on the other side of the plexi glass wall. This pic was taken Sunday from the curb when you drop off your luggage.

NCL BREAKAWAY.jpg

There will be police or port workers directing you where to stop and drop your bags. There is usually a very long line of taxi's waiting to pick up people on the mid level...you will be directed to pass them and then pull to the curb.

Another hint. When you disembark the ship it will be on the bottom level. If you are parked on the roof you will have to take the elevator (located outside by the curb) up to the roof top parking to get your car. They are large freight elevators and there is an elevator operator. The elevator also opens to the inside on the mid level from the ground level for people arriving to check in.

I can't honestly answer about porters available on the roof to take your luggage if you park on the roof as soon as you enter.

If I remember correctly there is door you enter from the roof and take an escalator down to the mid level security area and then you proceed through the terminal to cruise check in.

Hope this helps.

thanks MJ. I know we're going to be very early. Way before 9:50am. It's just our nature. That rooftop doesn't seem all that big for parking but I'm confident we'll get a spot. The more I read and learn about this, I'm pretty sure we'll wind up having to take our bags down ourselves after we park on that roof.

but it's about 10 months away so plenty of time to figure things out.

quick question: I saw a big "pier 88" in one of your pics. The magic docks at pier 90 from what I've read, but is that the only entry point to park?

I think I'm answering my own question from this link. It says you can't enter the parking terminal until 9am. Interesting though it also states you can't drop off your bags if you are parking. I think these rules are designed to minimize traffic flow problems.

I'm a bit confused as well. Either, after dropping off bags to porters, you have to circle back around to go up to the parking deck as soon as you enter the terminal or there is an entrance to parking just past the porters. Maybe it's pier dependent? :confused3
