For our next trip, I am having a hard time deciding when to go. Our only two options are either leave on Dec 31 and stay through first full week of January, or wait until our spring break which is the 2nd week in March. I have read our chances of no rain are better in jan, but wondered about crowds. Thanks in advance!

Dec 31 through first full week of January.

Great time to visit!

we wouldn't do a park on the 31st. Just have a nice dinner and maybe watch the fireworks from Ohana or something like that.

just make sure none of your most do attractions are in rehab during this period (Jan)

True - do they usually do the rehabs the beginning of Jan or more the middle/end?

With the changes on the horizon, there are no guarantees that there won't be attractions down over Spring Break.

Funny we did NYE last year and are doing Spring break this years. Our spring break is the April 6th. Looks like spring break is spread out for over a month this year. It would be interesting to hear how many people have spring break 2nd week in March. I think January would be less busy but colder. We are going and hoping for some warmer weather my DD love the WDW pools and want to try a water park.

Loved NYE week and looking forward to our first warm week April.

I've done the first full week of January twice in 2008 and 2009 and it was GLORIOUS!! Except the first night of the first trip, which was a Sunday, it was absolutely empty and we walked on almost everything. We did so much! The weather both trips was beautiful as well. In the days it was in the high 70s and even 80s I think, and the nights were low 70s. You didn't need anything more than a light jacket.

Obviously weather varies so I would pack in layers, but I would definitely do that week again! I went during spring break as a child, so I don't remember much about crowds in the parks but I know our pools were packed to the gills at the All-Stars. However, I am not sure exactly what week it was, but I believe it was mid-April or so.

Sorry, I forgot to respond to this. The two times we went, the only things I specifically remember being down for refurb were Splash Mountain and I believe Blizzard Beach. Splash was open for half of our trip each time. It was really great weather, but I don't know if I'd have braved a water park, so even though BB is my favorite it didn't affect my trip at all.

January----hands down!!!

This. You couldn't pay me to go Christmas/New Year's week and I'd try to avoid spring break but if there are kids involved and it has to be one or the other I'd go with spring break. At least then the weeks off are split.
