What kind of activities or parties take place on New Year's Eve at WDW? We usually go at Thanksgiving but have had to change our plans this year because our DD13 is part of a ballet company which will be doing The Nutcracker; she will have rehearsals all Thanksgiving week. There are 6 of us, Me, DH, DS22, DS's girlfriend 21, DS17 and DS13. Thanks for any tips.

DH and I are in our 60s and spent NYE at Epcot, and had a great time. The night before, on the 30th, the NYE fireworks were shown at MK and we were there then, so we got to see both of the wonderful displays.

On NYE there was a party, band, noisemakers on the Boardwalk, centered in the Village Green area. People there seemed to be having a lot of fun. If you can't get into a park, that would be a possibility.

We stayed at the BWV, and we are planning to do it in 2010. We want to stay in one of the Boardwalk resorts and just walk back from either Epcot or DHS on NYE. I heard traffic was very bad, and it was great just being a walk away from our rooms. We had NO problems at all getting back to our room on the 30th from the MK.

Have fun! We're also going to try July 4th next year.

We've been in the World the week between Christmas and leaving New Year's Day. Never again! Crushing crowds, parents letting kids sleep on sidewalk, pushing and shoving just to walk through the crowds. Give me January anyday!

Unfortunately, January is not an option. The kids are in school and I work for the school district as well. I don't beleive in playing the system and taking them out of school for vacation. That is what summer/spring break/thanksgiving and christmas break are for. My oldsest daughter would not go along with it anyway. She is in all honors classes and it would just be too hard to make up the work.

thats great to know that the fireworks are shown in magic kingdom the night before :cool1::cool1: Has anyone seen the new years eve (hogmany to us scots!!!!) fireworks at DHS. THe reason is that DH and I were thinking of going to epcot for the 7pm firworks then walk over to DHS for their fireworks??

Hi - I've been several times on NYE and we have a GREAT time - just go in with the attitude that its fun to be there at that time and you will be fine - all your peoples are old enough to stay up that late and you will have fun!!

We have always done MK, and so get there early am, as it always closes. We usually have a dinner booked sit down style that gives us a nice break too - it is VERY crowded, especially around the parade routes and places to watch fireworks, sometimes they restrict the flow of people to 1 direction certain ways....they pass out hats and horns and people are usually in a great mood. Once the midnight fireworks are over, if you can stay up, go on some rides then - everyone else leaves the park! If you can't stay up - head for the bus immediately at the end of the fireworks and walk really fast to the bus stop to try to beat the crowd!!

HAve FUN!!!:thumbsup2

Just keep in mind that park closures are pretty common on NYE and it's possible you may not be able to get into HS... and it could also be possible if that's the case, that you may not get back into EP if you wanted to.

I'm sure there must be a way to find out before you leave one park if the others are still open or not?? :confused3

All advice I've read here for NYE says to pick the park you want to be in for the midnight festivities, get there early in the day, and plan to stay there.

Someone posted a pic on the Theme Parks board of EP on NYE during the day and it was literally shoulder to shoulder and no one could move! :scared1:

AP holders can still get in if its at stage 3 closure. But if it's a stage 4 closure (which is very likely on NYE) no one gets in.
