Does anyone know if the parks typically close due to capacity on New Year's Eve? We're staying at Dolphin, but have an ADR at Boma for dinner. Will we be turned away from the park, or will we get access because we're staying on-site?

I've been there for 4 New Years. They get closed for capacity fast. Being on-site you are guaranteed park admission, but from what I've read here at the DIS that means Disney will let you into at least one park; they don't guarantee you can get into the park of your choice. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I've been waondering about the ADR thing also.

Me too! I'm staying at AKL this time but I was at the Swan last year and it was really nice. We're thinking about cancelling Boma and going to MGM instead - apparently it's not as crowded there. Does anyone know if that's true?

We have been to Epcot for last two NYE in a row... to my knowledge, the park never closed. Both years we entered in the afternoon, and while we ere staying at the Dolphin both years, we were never asked to see resort id, etc. We are going back again this year... staying at Dolphin and going to Epcot for a late dinner at Chefs de France and the midnight fireworks.

I just called Guest Services (I get nervous!). The CM told me that parks *can* close when they reach capacity, but to his knowledge, that has never been the case with Epcot.

Crossing my fingers that this is true. We're starting our day at MK but ending it at Epcot. We have an ADR for Coral Reef that night.

I know MK has definitely closed due to capacity. I've never heard of Epcot closing due to capacity. It would take a lot of people to close that park down ;) Your best bet is probably to be in Epcot for NYE or get to the MK first thing in the morning and never leave :)

We were at MGM last year for NYE. We went in the morning ,left for the afternoon (stayed at the Dolphin) and went back to MGM around 4pm. I'm quite sure the park never got to capacity or Epcot. MK will fill up early though. If you are staying on site you are guaranteed to get into at least one park. We went to MK early on New Years Day and it was almost empty until late in the morning.

I was told very recently (well in November) that if I had ADR's and the parks was closed due to capacity issues that my ADR as long as I had my confirmation number would get me in the park (of course, as long as I had admission..tickets of course). Who knows it may be wrong information and I may be finding out the hard way but I hope the person I spoke to knew what they were talking about.

You were given the wrong information. If the park is closed because of capacity your ADR confirmation number won't get you anything. If it did everyone would be making ADR's to guarantee entry to their favorite park.
