I am planning (another) New Year's Eve trip to WDW and I would like to hear about folks positive dining experiences on this past New Year's Eve, and how they fit in with the rest of the evening.

Thanks!

We have been at WDW for NYE twice and will be there for this NYE 2008-9. First, make sure you make your plans early and call for your adr 180 days out, especially for one of the favorite places. We avoided MK on both occasions because you need to get there by 10am and plan on staying there until the end..no park hopping option here or you may not bet back in. It closed to all guests(including resort guests both years..even if you have adr, if they hit the max capacity, you WILL NOT be allowed entry into the park. mgm and epcot fair better and we were able to park hop. 2003-4 we started at mgm and then hit epcot at 4pm (via IG) and had adr for Teppanyaki for 8:00pm. It was crazy crowed, but fun..it started to pour so it put a damper on the outdoor venues. We had to wait 45 minutes for our adr in Japan, after we ate we left via boat to BW and DH went on to mgm and got our car and picked us up at BW and headed back to OKW, saw some of fireowrks at DTD from our room at OKW. 2004-5 We chose to stay at mgm all day and had adr at BD for 8:45. We were able to tour (with FP) fairly well, enjoyed the outdoor venues of music and even hit the last Fantasmic and then took boat back to Swan and watched the Fireworks at MGM from our room and even caught some of Illuminations fireworks from the S&D dock.

We went in 2006/2007 for NYE. We ate at Chefs De France at 6:00 PM. The atmosphere was busy and exciting. The place was PACKED, but we didn get to celebrate France's cross over into 2007.

We went for the millennium celebration. We had dinner in Japan at 6:00, and then at around 7:00 we grabbed spots for the fireworks and New Years celebrations. It got a little boring waiting for four hours, but I guess it was worth it... Even waiting that long we didn't get a great spot. People had staked out the prime spots by 11:00 when the park opened. I guess I expected it. To get in the International gateway we were backed up beyond the Yatch Club... An interesting memory.

A few years ago some friends were able to get 9:50pm reservations for Rose and Crown and we were able to be seated on the Terrace. Service was terribly slow and our desserts came just before the start of IllumiNations. Needless to say, the server got a very large tip (around 30%).

Now this ia the sort of thing that I am very interested in. I was also thinking of California Grill for the very same purpose.
