My sister in law and her family will be at the world for new years eve day, they have PS for Donald's Restaurant in AK in the moring and a PS for The Living Seas that night, they had to give a credit card number for The living seas, what happens if Epcot closes due to crowds?

will they be able to get in for their PS
will they be refunded for not making their PS due to crowds?

any info would be great, they are leaving tomorrow

Here's what I would do.
I would go very early and probably park at Epcot and take Disney bus transportation to the AK.

Then, as soon as practicable, I would return to Epcot and plan on staying there the rest of the day.

As to whether the PS cost at the Living Seas would be refunded, I don't know but would call CRO to ask.

If a park is closed, I don't think having a PS would allow the family an entrance, but, again, I would ask CRO.

Good luck to them.

If Epcot closes to capacity, they will not be let in simply because they have a PS. And the charge will not be refunded. I would go with the plan that WDWisTheBest gave you -- do the breakfast in DAK and then head over to Epcot as early in the day as you can. OR ... change the breakfast PS to another day, if being at Epcot for NYE is a "must do" for your SIL.

This is courtesy of "Chip n Dale Express" Tyler said,
"There are different levels of park capacity.

1st stage - MK Parking lot closes, guests are diverted to Epcot parking lot.
2nd stage - MK is limited to those who already have a ticket.
3rd stage - MK is closed off to all except Disney Resort Guests. (Also called Yellow Flag)
4th stage - MK is closed off to ALL. (Also called Red Flag)

It should be noted that these are general stages, and it's not a one-for-one thing. Also, once you leave the park, you may not be allowed back in.

During busy holiday weeks, it's not uncommon to reach the 3rd stage. During this stage, guests will be asked to show Disney Resort ID's when boarding any Disney transportation. (Monorail, Bus, or Watercraft)

During Christmas and Easter week, its not unheard of to reach the 4th stage. Typically this will happen sometime in the late morning, and will extend to the early afternoon. Usually by mid-afternoon, enough people have left so that they will go down in levels. "

And, the busiest day of the year at Epcot is NYE.

By "early", I can tell you one of our experiences on NYE for parking. We were on World Drive one year at 7am and finally parked in the MK parking lot after 9am. I wish we had not passed up parking at Epcot that day.

I would agree that the best option is to reschedule the AK PS and just do EPCOT.

If you are staying on-site, but might be able to get in since they will first close the park to non-Disney Resort guests.

EPCOT is by far the busiest park on NYE. When we were at WDW over NYE, a CM stated that there were over 80,000 people at EPCOT. We were at MK, were there was a measily 70,000. Too crowded for me, but the fireworks were well worth it!!!!

There may be more people at Epcot than at MK, but MK is much more likely to close to capacity first. MK's capacity is smaller because the park is smaller. I'd much rather be at Epcot with 80,000 than at MK with 70,000.

And yes, we'll be spending NYE at Epcot! :)

I live locally and have not yet had a problem entering EPCOT on NYE. I have an AP (not that that matters).

I work that day and usually head for the park around four pm. I've seen the EPCOT closed signs on my way to the parking lots, and just kept going (intending the first year, to turn around at the turnstile) and have been allowed in each time.

I know it closes to admissions, because I've been there when that happens too, but what I am suggesting is that it may close to new admissions at one point during the day, and reopen later.

Yoda not withstandin, "If at first you don't suceed, try, try again," seems to be the motto that works best here! :D
