We are planning a trip to Universal 12/29-1/3. Our thought was to spend New Year's Eve celebrating in one of the parks. As I am researching, I am only seeing things about City Walk for the New Year. Are the parks actually open at midnight or only City Walk?

I realize this was two months ago...and no reponse was posted. We are also JUST now considering the same thing. We are looking for kid friendly ways to celebrate as it looked like the past NYE celebrations were more adult themed. We'd be okay with just hanging out at the resort as long as they did something there to ring in the New Year also. Considering club level accomodations for the first time so haven't picked a specific resort yet.

I did NYE in Citiwalk in 2013. I don't recall if the parks were even open. It was a lot of fun. The bars "upstairs" were all open and had different music.

It was for grown ups. No kids there. And the whole vibe around citiwalk was not something I'd want my child to be in. Not dangerous at all, just not kid friendly. This is 4 years ago, so things might have changed.

Yes what I've read so far clearly indicates that CityWalk festivities will be adult-oriented. I think we'd be okay just hanging at the resort if there was something there.

Thanks for the response.

Sea World might have kid friendly festivities if that's a possibility? You might want to check that out.

The onsite hotels have kid friendly celebrations for a fee, of course.

Universal Studios is open to midnight and they have a countdown and extra fireworks in the lagoon that is in park and not part of the upcharge citywalk event.

i

s a video of the past years (and you can search for others) to get an idea.
