Hello all!

We will be traveling in December, for a soccer tournament for my DD. We have been to WDW many times, probably at least 6 times with my DDs.
The tourney will be over but we extended our trip a bit, so will be there on NYE. DD1 and I were at Epcot last year on NYE, and it was so crowded we got grumpy and frustrated and ended up leaving, in bed by 8 PM!!
We don't want this year to be as disappointing. I wonder what you could suggest as park alternatives for NYE? One idea we had was to get tix for La Nouba, then hang out at Disney Springs. Not sure if there would be any fireworks visible there.

Thanks so much!!

i will be there the same time as you, but this will be my first time being there on NYE. My plan is to be at EPCOT, because EPCOT to me can handle the crowds a lot better than any of the other parks. I've been there for the 4th of July and have found that to be the case. However, I am sure NYE is way more crowded than the 4th of July. If you are looking for another option, you can always go to the Poly and be between the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian on the beach area before Midnight for one of the best NYE Fireworks views. I'm not sure how crowded it is, but based on this video, I'm very much having a hard time deciding if I want to be at the Poly on the 30th or inside the MK (The MK does their NYE show on the 30th and 31st).

Do you know what resort you are staying at? If you aren't staying at any of the MK resort hotels, you can easily get over to the Poly for the show from a theme park or take the bus to the MK from your resort and catch the monorail/boat over to the Poly. If you decide to see La Nouba which is a really great show, you can get the Poly bus from Disney Springs. I hope this gives you a great idea.

Hi,
We are planning Christmas and New Year in WDW next year. We did it in 2011/12
We just book ADRs for NYE the same as any other day, even Christmas. Because it's all new and special to us.
I guess there are parties and such, but, our kids can be over stimulated, so we don't do those.

Thank you for some great suggestions!! The Poly may be a great idea, it's been a while since we visited the resort and it may be fun to get a late ADR there...
Last year my DD and I were able to get into Epcot in the afternoon, the park didn't close. We had FP+ for TT, and even with that it took us almost an hour before we got to ride. Then we were just going to walk around in the lands, but we found the foot traffic to be unbearable. As it turns out, people were gathering for the early NYE version of Illuminations, so there was a lot roped off. So, probably just bad timing on our part!!

So, maybe seeing the earlier La Nouba, then head over to Poly for a late dinner and maybe catching the fireworks! We want to be up early the next day to visit a park, but I think we can do it, my kids aren't that young.
